Well, I've finally settled on a Golf R for my next daily, so now I just need to decide on the colour.
Out of all the colours, the two that I keep coming back to are Tornado Red and Rising Blue.
I love the red for it's pure, rich, vibrant colour
I love the Blue as it is the traditional colour for the Golf R and looks great in the sunny weather.
Which of the TWO colours above would you choose and why?
Edit - a little help below :happy2:

OOPS!, should be in random, can someone please move if you have time between bitburger beers and talks of the 'ring
-
got to be blue all the way... everyone has a red golf
you looking to mod? are you not limited with the R's?
-
Yes, I'll be modding it, but only to stage 4

For the R - I think Red would be a great call.
The Blue is the traditional R colour, but times change.
Indeed there are lots of GTi's/Ed30's about in red, but I've not seen a Red Golf R not even in the mags I look at..
BTW I'd choose the option which sounds like "Handy Kite", but for the purpose of this Red or Blue 'Matrix' like question.
Red is the one I voted.
-
Updated original post with pics to help :happy2:
-
my gti is TR...but its an R looks lovely in both, but woulod have the blue
-
Rising Blue for me... metallic for one and secondly it will appeal to a wider range of people when you come to sell it on.
-
Just seen the pics, I voted Red.
For me the pics double confirm my red vote.
Not sure about black wheels of that red R photo though, whether that would be wise box to tick when spec'ing.
Golf R Group Buy Anyone ???
-
Red, just because............... :happy2:
-
I would chose blue because it is metallic and because there aren't any "normal" Golfs in this color.
TR is a common color to all Golfs.
Also, IMO the Blue golf in the above pictures looks better then the red one.
-
If you are going to be using some cf I'd be going red John.
-
Slightly biased photos at the beginning of the thread, need a better photo for rising blue
The thing about colours is that it comes down to the light that the colour is under aswell as the camera the photograph was taken with, there can be a massive variance:

But, in my opinion it would be Tornado Red, the majority of both the MK4 and MK5 R32 golfs were built in Deep Perlesceant Blue, and a very small number in Tornado Red. This makes the R look very special in Tornado Red.
-
Oh, and in my opinion you should choose the colour that has the least votes, at least that gives you an inkling that you will end up with a more exclusive colour :jumpmove:
-
Red.
People get out of your way when there is a red car in the rear view mirror and cut you up less. It definitely has a psychological effect.
Plus it looks much better.
-
Blue all the way.. They did have a red golf r at Chelmsford dealer with a blue roc r next to it and the blue stands out more as it looks better and not on available on every car where as red is... Plus I'm a bit biased to blue :signLOL:
-
Red for me but with the silver rims.
-
Blue has long been my favorite colour yet my last three cars have been red . I love blue cars but the red and black combo is so much more vivid and suits a lot of cars better, especially when its buffed up.
The blue on the R is a bit weak in my opinion so I vote for red all the way mate. Never seen an R in red either so it'll be more unique.
-
Blue but with the black wheels...
-
Get yourself some panpipes; develop a healthy appetite for young ladies and wildlife (not a wild life) a couple of garish go-faster strips and you and Robin have your own club starting!!!!!
Seriously - It’s got to be Red the only colour I wanted to have other than CW; I always give a red GTi a second glance
-
Red, everyone and their dog has a Rising Blue one, don't be a sheep.

They may as well rename that R forums members section, 'The blues brothers'(with a dash of white)
I have seen a red one in the tin and to me it looks fantastic.
That shade of red really works on the mk6 golf and especially the R. Im not a fan of red cars but this one i really liked.
-
Blue - definitely.
But then, I'm biased.
:driver:
-
I think the red looks more exclusive but IMO the blue looks better. In fact, I think the car looks better in black/blue/white/silver than it does in red.
Not biased against red (much) - the MK5 GTI works really well in red IMO but I don't think the Golf R looks as good in red.

:fighting: :fighting:
I'd go blue too :happy2:
-
Am I missing something here John?? I thought you'd lined up an RS3??
Blue of course
-
Get a facelift S3, much better looks and interior. Yes it will be used but you're going to save over £10k

Ahhh, Toms old motor. Always did like that. Looked after too :happy2:
Still undecided though!
-
I know where there is a low mileage white one going cheap
-
Yea I had seen it on the forum before. Unless you prefer the styling of the Golf, you want a brand new car or you prefer the MK6 platform I can't understand why anyone would want a Golf R over the S3. I couldn't warrant that much on something that still has the 2.0 TFSI, if I was spending that much it would have to be something with the 2.5 TFSI, but not the RS3, so either TTRS.
Do you have a weekend car Hurdy? You mentioned this new car was a daily
-
Voted Blue , but if I was buying it would be Black , if they are available in Black that is
-

No the R will be a "do it all" car. :happy2:
-
Rising blue all the way looks so good in sunlight
-
it has to be blue John.
if you buy a red one with black wheels, your only copying me :signLOL:
both look the bizzo. Tough one to call. White would be my own choice.
-
Of the two colours I'd go for Red as the Rising Blue seems to be the default. The voting proves it!
Personally, I'd get a Silver one. Suits the R and makes it look classy.
-
Ok so I would go for red.
The reason?
When I was buying my ED30, red was the last colour I would choose but it was a good price and brought the ED30 into the frame for me.
When I saw it I changed my mind, love it now and I would buy red again.
Stone chips quite badly though, but its a car so who cares in the scheme of things? :popcornsoda:
Probably stronger paint 4 years on or get a wrap to protect the wings and bonnet which is probably a plan TBH.
-
Has to be blue mate i didnt think much of the R until i saw one at the dealers other day, the blue looks amazing, unique!!! :notworthy: im jealous!!!!!
-
the RB is Metallic...the TR isn't.
So the Blue wins.
And besides...it looks the dogs when clean and shiny!
:happy2:
-
GET A SHADOW BLUE R. THE BEST COLOUR BY FAR, BAR NONE.
-
Thats a tough one, as both are really nice...
:driver:
-
red man...it`s different. :)

. Looked after too

Back on topic, you cant ask anyone what colour you want, it is purely down to personal taste. Only you can decide what you prefer. I love looking at red cars but would never dream of owning one. Dont really like blue as a colour on cars and yet have bought 2.
I also think with your cars its whats on the inside that counts. :drinking:
-
My first choice would be Reflex Silver, second Candy White.............
Oh and both would HAVE to have black wheels!! :notworthy:
Sorry I can't help with your question!
And yes Toms car was looked after, but not by him! :signLOL:
-
Saw a red one for the first time in Pudsey last night.
Hope the owner isn't reading. Cos it really didn't look owt special.
If it wasn't for the Stunning 'Talladega' alloys and weird three point turn I wouldn't have given it a second glance.
Well it was the driving over the curb in front of me that first drew my attention.
Rising Blue Metallic and Deep Black Pearl or Candy White look fantastic. Only ever seen on CW at the dealers.
-
Too late for me to vote, but the Rising Blue is easily one of the best colours I've seen on a car. The R looks stunning in it.
-
I like the Aplomb Blue one shown at Wörthersee.
