As some will know I step into the dark side in a few weeks time and I thought I'd see what you all think of the premium black stuff.
Recently filled up at £1,44.9/litre for V-Power Petrol and noticed the black stuff at £1,49.9/litre.
Are any of you using it? Does it offer any real world gains?
I'm a firm advocate of the V-Power petrol but not so sure with the oil.

I use it almost all the time, I find the car alot smoother when
Running v power. When I'm unfortunate enough to have to use
Other diesel the car sounds sh*t as no get up and go. Also find their
Fuel save very good aswel. But please stay away from supermarket
Diesel, it's all blended and it's rubbish
-
Supermarket fuels are never on my radar :innocent:

V Power diesel and BP Ultimate are definitely supposed to be better at cleaning .... I think they have something like 5 times the cleaning agents in them compared to their normal counterparts ... let alone compared to supermarket diesel.
As for power - they are, again, supposed to burn better and create a bigger 'bang' ... I know my 320d which I ran for 9 months on BP ultimate certainly produced the goods on a rolling road where similar engines produced 10bhp less. Might have been a 'good' loose engine for it's miles but I have changed to a 330d and again the car feels more alive than when run on normal diesel.
It's as usual very subjective but FWIW I think the V Power or Ultimate diesels are worth it - especially for their cleaning power given diesels are not exactly known for their clean running .... got to be good for the DPF as well
-
I think my old TDI ran a bit quieter on Vpower diesel.
Nothing wrong with Tesco 99RON.. i use it 80% of the time in mine

I am fairly certain ...........Open to an Argument............That all diesel and petrol is the same as it all comes from the same distributor. The difference comes when they delivery destination is "Shell" they add shell additive..........When its "BP" they add BP additive etc.
They do not manufacture different fuels.............its either diesel or petrol and then other stuff added. Supermarket stuff doesn't get any additive.
But my question is Where does higher octane fuel come from and how do they make it higher octane?
-
It's the fuel of the Devil I tell ya!
Can you use this as I'm sure it's all the same really?

my first car was a diesel my second was a mk2 gti, every subsequent car has been a dirty d

I found i get around 2-3mpg more on V-Power Diseasel over Fuel Save and another 1-2 on BP Ultimate over the V-Power. The car seemed to pull smoother as well on the BP stuff according to the Butt Dyno. So i would use the BP just from personal experience.
I get a good 40-50 miles more from a tank on either compared to normal stuff. But i do a lot of M'Way driving.
