Title: remote wire
Post by: barratt on May 19, 2011, 06:49:01 pm
I'm having an issue getting my head around wiring up the remote on wire for my sub

I'm using an aftermarket headunit and i have the connects 2 CTSVW002 can bus wiring harness. On my previous audio installs the wiring harness had a spare blue wire which i hooked up my sub remote on wire to. But looking at this now the only spares are the pink speed/pulse, green park brake, purple reverse which are rather useless to me :(

I tried searching the forum but didn't find anything on it. All help appreciated!

I tagged mine onto the rear 12v socket. Works perfectly  :happy2: Though granted only when the ignition is on.

I didn't think of that. I suppose it's a last resort. But tbh as you said there is a bit of a downside there! Another thing would be is if you don't have your HU on your going to have the sub on for no reason :(
Not sure if this would work but. I noticed there is a "power antenna" blue wire that goes from the quadlock to the iso end. If I tap into that I'm guessing it would perform the same function?

Hopefully some ones done it a more proper way and will chime in  :happy2:

Tbf I always have my HU on so that makes no difference to me  :P

That could well work. That will send a 12V feed whenever the radio is generally on - try it with a multimeter and see if it has +12V when you put the HU on

I was gonna try it today but I only just managed to get my stereo in before I had to go somewhere. Even though I have the connects2 can bus compatible harness, my stereo would not power up. I had to tap a wire that went to the OBD port to get ignition / switched. Considering it should have worked without this I'm rather confused! Unless the stereo needs to be canbus compatible, who knows.

Gonna take a peek around tomorrow for the remote on wire, see what i can figure.

The Blue power antenna wire does the same job as the remote wire for a sub so you can use that mate and it also powers the aftermarket amplified radio antenna adapter you'll need
