Title: Black Pirelli
Post by: Pirelli Paul on May 21, 2011, 01:35:56 am
New to the site

Treated myself to a  black 3 door Pirelli GTI, 2009 Model and very low milage, very impressed so far and looking forward to getting to know the car better. Have been living and working in Asia since 1999 and my last car I had in the UK before I left was a Mk2 Jetta GTI that had well over 100,000 miles on the clock when I sold it and it was the reliability of that car that made me want another VW GTI. Insurance was a problem since I had been out the country so long and didn't have any no claims, I was getting quoted around 1,300 pound by Aviva through the high street agents but when I called them direct I got it for just over 750 which I thought was a right result.

Cheers Paul

Thanks Lou

I am over the moon with it, was contemplating a Mk6 but then I spotted this one from a Main dealer in Surrey with less than 14,000 miles on the clock. I was in Hong Kong at the time but it looked good on the pictures so I took a gamble and brought it whilst in Hong Kong. The salesmen picked my up from the airport and I collected the car. It was almost spot on. All I really needed to do was get new center caps for the Pirelli alloys as they had some white worm and paint the disk bells as the rust was showing through the silver (I painted them black). Also had the Autoglym lifetime shine, and had a boot liner and first aid kit from VW.

Thinking to just put some slotted or drilled discs on it change the pads and get an after market catback exhaust and a new filter for the standard airbox. Anybody have any recomendations?

Cheers Paul

Very nice mate, you have great taste! I spotted one just like this a couple of weeks ago on the M40, wasn't you was it?
I got my centre caps changed under warranty as mine were White worming too! :happy2:
Welcome to site, hold on to your wallet! :happy2:

Cheers Mark

It was not me on the M40 a couple of weeks ago, but a rare sight I am sure as I understand only 250 or so made (Was that for UK or worldwide I wonder).

I should of thought about a warranty claim on the center caps as the car still has about a years warranty, it would of saved me 50 quid.

Anyhow cheers all for the welcome

Welcome along!

Did anyone else notice in the pics the car has high line but no mfsw....how are you supposed to navigate the menu???

I would guess it's a retrofit as the car also has an rns510?

The right hand stalk buttons navigate the menu. Some R32's also havet no MFSW buttons, although they came with highline as standard. Doesn't necessarily mean there's been a retrofit.

Hi Piston

Not aware there was a retro fit as came from the dealer as far as I know, but I would of liked a MFSW but dificult to change as would need a Pirelli one with yellow stitching so will make do with the right hand stalk for bringing up the menus.

Has anybody got any feedback on the Pivot XV muliti guage, Japanese but I think I can get hold of one here in Hong Kong, they can be swithed between boost oil, oild and water temperature I think, just plug in the and read from the ECU, wondered if anyone has used one or seen one and can advise how they work.

Check them out on You Tube they look nice and a perfect match to the clock lighting, was thinking about one in a OSIR vent pod.

Thanks mate

In that case maybe an idea to do it all and but with a Revo stage 2 and go to the 2+ if I do the clutch upgrade and the LSD, Not sure how the standared clutch would cope with that much power?

Great car mate, I was so close to buying. Used Pirelli but at the last minute went for a MK6 GTI.

I think a LSD is essential if you're going to kick out that much power.
