I was hoping seeing one in the flesh would change my mind but my reaction was similar to this: -

Should he/shes be shopping at Waitrose?
Im a "Meh" too... just looking like a A3 and those wheels are rank!
-
Press office starting to get their cars then!! Does look rather ordinary for a £40k car
-
My thoughts exactly, looks like a 5 door with aftermarket alloys. Not for me at anything like that money :fighting:
-
Dull as dishwater. I'd rather have a Golf R and go a bit slower!
Looks especially rubbish in red.
-
Very plain looking indeed and i agree those alloys look  wonder if it would look any better in a different colour maybe?
-
That looks sh!t, just like an S-Line with w&nk wheels.
-
Hmmm, definitely not a good look for the alloys.
-
TT-RS looks good though so they made a real cock up IMHO.
Thats a lot of money isn't it £40k I think I would rather keep the ED30 and pay off some of my mortgage.
Thats another post though.
-
I agree h4rdy... The ttrs looks epic, it's got a real presence.
-
Steve - Where you stalking them
-
Yes. :P
-

That's in need of some flared arches big time!!
-
For me the ethos behind the RS3 is Q-car not loud and lairy.
Red wheel highlights are way over the top but probably serve to get the car noticed at the moment.
Stealth is king.
-
I agree to be honest H. It doesn't need to shout "i'm Fast", it just is.
The red lips on the wheels are shocking, I wouldn't have those. I don't think I'd go for red either.
-
Stealth is king.
:happy2:
-
So that what 40k+ looks like....... I'm sure my mrs will see were the 40k has been spent :indifferent:
-
Why did audi bother building it? It needs twin oval exhausts along with bigger road presence considering it costs 40k.
-
Stealth is king.
:happy2:
:notworthy:
-
If I was looking for stealth I would have a modded edition 30, debadge and put GT on and mod to improve on the RS3
At £40k I want something that I would be pleased to walk back to after parking up. I bet they will be rare (And heavily discounted if they don't shift)
-
Stealth is OK up to a point, but I'd still want people to know I was stupid enough to spend 40 grand on an A3 and that don't look the part! A friend has ordered one in Racing Blue Mica which might look a little more special, but this car is just not RS enough in my opinion. (he's still hoping to get it in September btw, so still a long wait!)

+1

Nice car but its biggest problem is the existence of the BMW 1M. If I had 40k to spend on a car like this Audi would not be getting my money.
-
Have to admit that looks poor... doesnt even look like an RS3... maybe a different colour and different wheels will look better ?
-
i like it
-
saw this car today, pulled up next to me, looks ok but no way near £40k worth
-
Saw an RS3 in the flesh at Le Mans this weekend. Looked ok but didn't seem special enough to me.
The A1 Clubsport on the other hand... Now that is a car!!
-
A1 clubsport..............Now that i would sell a kidney for.

Normal A1 available on 1.2 TFSI and 1.6 TDI only?
-
RS3 in EVO magazine this month did 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds and 0-100mph in 9.9 seconds Not bad that. :happy2:
-
it doesnt look like it should but stage 2+ and i cant think of anything that would touch it, that engine must be a stonker ! 3.2 seconds to 60 and a standing 1/4 of 11.something seconds, thats faster than the old Mclaren F1
certainly

I just don't get why people are so intent on comparing the M1 with the RS3! The RS3 is a 5 door hatchback with more room than my R32 and as Clarkson said, the M1 isn't a coupe it's a saloon - except it isn't even that. The only comparison is that they cost around the same, are about as fast, and were announced at around the same time. If you want a 2 door car that makes you look like a hairdresser but goes nowhere when the white stuff hits the ground (like my 330 touring last December) then by all means choose the Beemer. If you want the space, style, speed, grip and subtlety of a good looking hatch with a fantastic DSG box you'll choose the Audi - or not. I ordered one as soon as the order books were open just to get that sublime 5 pot engine. But then I woke up and ordered a proper car due September. A Golf R
And now we come to the issue of cost - everyone also seems horrified that the RS3 costs £40k but add a few bits to the Golf R in 5 door DSG form as I've done and the bill is over £40k!

I offered, the nice chap from audi just looked at me funny :sad1:

Surely you'd be miles better buying a low mileage RS4 Avant. Looks better, it's the best RS car made...
-
Audi really are buffoons!
"The car handles corners with plenty of grip, but its limit handling balance is dominated by understeer, and is largely unresponsive to attempts at throttle steering."
In a 4wd car... understeer? Why do they insist on making cars which understeer? :stupid: :stupid:
-
... i know its haldex... you know what i meant though
-
Oops just deleted my comment! I like to think of the Haldex cars as 2+2WD.
-
From what I have read the GEN4 Haldex seems to be much more predictive as opposed to the GEN2 stuff in the .:R and S3.
-
S3 was GenIV as of 2007 apparently. Got firmly put in my place for assuming otherwise on VAGOC!
