As above. A friend is selling a bluefin box for 200 quid, whats the damage for a stage one for en ED30?
Ta.. Rich
-
Is it reset?
-
Is it reset?
I presume so. Ill find out. :happy2:
-
If it's been reset it's ready to go. Follow the instructions on the Bluefin website but they go something like this.
Plug it in the car.
Download the latest Bluefin SW from Superchips plug the handset into your PC.
Connect the handset and upload your standard map.
Wait for an email or text from Superchips.
Reconnect your handset and then install your new map.
Plug it in the car and follow all the instructions taking great care not to turn it off at the wrong point.
It is a VAG Bluefin handset isn't it Rich?
-
Ta Hedge... yes its a VAG Bluefin used previously on a Leon Cupra 2.0TFSI.
-
My friend seems to think its still got the Leon FR map on it. It registered to him at the moment.

I think Superchips charge £199 for a reset. A new handset (Bluefin) from jkm last week with forum discount is £405 INC VAT for your info Rich.
Depends on how much your mate will let you have it for to make it worthwhile.
-
He is selling it for 200...
-
Then buy a new handset mate
-
If it's not reset then he's having a laff.
-
P-Torque will do you a stage 1 map for £295, Rich :happy2:
-
If hes had it for less then 6 months, i think he can get it reset for free by S.C..... going by what Wigit did for me what i bought his old Bluefin handset.
Buying it for £200 as a reset handset is worth it, but not if hes not prepaired to pay the cost to reset it, if its older then 6 months.(not sure on timescale tbh, might be 1 year )
-
just to give u an insight i paid £175 for a reset bluefin
-
OK. cool!
Steve i think its older than a year.
-
Then buy new mate if he's not resetting...
Bluefin are doing a roaring trade recently :innocent:

£204.69 in total IF the map was removed from his car. If not, £325.70.

not sure.. 1-2 years. S/C said I would have to send the unit back to them for it to be flashed with new firmware!
-
Well, it's ultimately some software rich, so personally, I'd take what is the cheapest option for your back pocket..
Or also factor in if your in a rush for it... Sending unit off may take longer then a few days for a new handset and map
Just ask.......... And he'll tell you how long his turned up :signLOL:
-
Im in no rush... I've waited since September so i can wait a bit more to find the best solution. :signLOL:
-
I would buy new in that case Rich as you're not saving anything.

Jus to fuel it even more, i made the leap to Bluefin last week after coaxing from unnamed individuals, i purchased direct from JKM and only have praise for how efficient they were. I was actually kindly offered a 2nd Bluefin also, but it wasn't reset and i would have to pay for carriage to and from Superchips, not to mention then purchase a new air-filter, so would only have been saving 50-60 to be honest, that difference made me go for peace of mind !! Thats not say i would still not be smiling had i taken this kind offer up of a used one, comes down to personal choice in the end i believe. All i can say is the device, the service, the simplicity (nowt is simple in my life) AND the difference is IMMENSE. Sure, i am using up plenty of fuel, but the thrill it gives will have you smiling endlessly!! I was told id be kicking myself if i didnt take the plunge, and after the last 5 days i quite agree!!!!!!!!! :jumping:
Andrew
PS. As others have said, from this point on it's a slippery slope............(not literally i hope)
-
Certain individuals are quite persuasive arent they :signLOL:
I actually got 30MPG to and from work today. I was very impressed!
Though it has taken a few weeks to get back to a decent MPG :P
