Hello everybody!
Just picked up my new GTI so thought I would find some time to introduce myself.
My name is Pete, I live in the centre of Birmingham and work in Gaydon (in Warwickshire for those of you who were unsure). A fairly lengthy commute so its fair to say I might very soon be on first name terms with the blokes in my local fuel station.
I have just bought a 2007 Silver 5 Door Golf GTI having spent about 3 months searching the big WWW for a new car after the head gasket on my MG ZR (*Rover*) decided to go all ....Roverish.
So after looking at Civic Type Rs, Focus STs, Mini Cooper S works and even a few MK4 R32s I finally settled on the MKV GTI... a decision aided by the fact that my cousin manages a car dealership and just happened to take one in PX. If I am completely honest I would have rather have had a 3 door and there were a few colours higher on my preference list than silver...however after picking up and driving away in my latest financial commitment I have very quickly fallen in love.
I will post some pictures up as soon as I get around to setting up a photobucket account. Very much looking forward to conversing with you lovely lovely people, learning stuff and things and perhaps (in the distant future) offering some info myself.
Kind Regards to you all!
Pete (PJC430)

Welcome Pete.
I think you'll find the car quite addictive and any concerns over number of doors will slip away.
-
welcome :happy2:

Welcome mate - great colour choice too, any mods on your motor yet?
This forum is an excellent resource, but crikey can it get expensive!

Hi Pete. There's a few of us in and around Brum. :happy2:
Gaydon
I must have passed that place around 150 times over the last four years and it still makes me chuckle! Juvenile I know!

Thanks guys!
Completely understand the "Gaydon Giggle"...its immature i know but i still find it funny even after driving to work everyday!
No mods as such just yet, the fuel bill from the long commute is taking up most of my spare cash at the moment. Have however had the skirts, rear valance and front splitter painted body colour as really hated the black plastic look.
Considering a few mods such as DRLs, a Garmin integrated sat nav, and potentially a miltek cat back when the funds allow. However that's about it for my plans.
Photos to follow soon I promise!

Looks like a few £ have already been spent on it mate.
Welcome to another Midlander, and also a silver MK5 5 door owner like myself. :happy2:

Hello and welcome Pete from another West Midlander. Was working in Gaydon (snigger!) the other week at Land Rover Jaaaag and the gravel pit across the road. Colour coding looks tip top.
-
The colour coding is an excellent touch Pete :happy2: Looking smart.
Warm welcome from another Pete also in the Midlands!
