Yeah, still only in 'artists impression' mode though.

Gotta say that I do like the new Polo, and the Polo R could be the one for me next!

Oooo. Was interested in the polo gti for the good power vs running costs, but this could be more fun!!

Also, I've heard a rumour (from a VERY good source) that they will be a Ibiza Cupra R out this year

Along with the audi s1, rumours of upto 270hp and quattro  :happy2:

Spotted a modded a1  in berkeley sq the other day, pearly white colour with centre exhaust, lowered and on some tasty anthracite rims, certainly made me take another look

I didn't think VW were going to make the Polo R, but looks like its defo now. Wonder how much it will be and if it will be as ridiculously priced as the MkVI Golf R?

Now that looks intersting
If it looks that good and reasonably priced when it gets released I could be tempted  Hope its available as a manual :driver:

oooh i might even consider down grading to that.

White with white alloys...that WRC spec rear spoiler and the mahoosive R logo down the side of the car.

....Funny how it's got so much more style than a Ford.

It wont be a manual. It probably wont happen either.

I think all this is just hearsay because of the Polo R branding on the WRC entry for 2013. It will price the car above the standard Golf GTI and i dont think VW will want to lose sales. Also still doubtful there will be a 4wd version of the A1 as well, and it certainly wouldnt be called the S1 for confusion with this:

Maybe this is the answer .. dont need a Golf sized car so save money and get the Polo R... cheaper to run and sounds like it could be pretty potent too.  4WD I would be suprised at but you never know.

Polo R is scheduled to be officially announced in the 2nd qtr of 2012. :happy2:

Whether it will have 4WD is another story. :popcornsoda:

....So that suggests that a Golf Mk7 won't be shown until September 2012 (at Paris show as usual) at the very earliest.

VW entered the WRC with a 1.6 Turbo'd Polo R "cos it fits with their forthcoming global marketing plans"

So I'm hoping they will indeed do a road going 1.6T 4WD Polo R to fulfil that blurb!!!

....So where's the road version of the Golf with the stunning 5-pot 2.5 litre RS engine as used in the Nurburgring 24?

We live in hope but I ain't holding my breath!

Well they delivered the year before with the Scirocco R didn't they

This years Golf 24 is a bit more mental but who knows what they're planning. Just know reading the WRC entry blurb there's a good chance of a road based version happening!
