Title: What should i do - Golf GTI 2006 3dr Blk
Post by: rakesh27 on May 25, 2011, 12:40:24 pm
Guys,

I recently owned a mrk IV GTI-Turbo fully modded, had an accident to work and now shes gone (Car heaven, i do miss her alot), sounds sad. Anyways i brought a black GTI-Turbo 2.0 2006 3dr black.

The inside is leathers and in good condition however the outside is not great, loads of stone chips, swirl marks, colour fading etc.... Im getting her fully sprayed quite quick, im thinking what to do.

Should i paint the plastic bits as the same as the colour of the car, or i was thinking paint the body black shiny and the plastic bits mat black or mat grey including the front centre where the grill is.

I was thinking paint the front plastic splitter overhang in red (maybe too chavy) should i get it removed as ive seen some without it and it looks not half bad.

What to do ?????

Obvously once shes painted, then tints, rims, lowered, exhaust, then engine eg filter, dump valve, remap etc... i just hope after remap the clutch dont get burnt out ????

Well first you should take it to a professional detailer before rushing off to get a full respray, you'll be amazed at what can be done. A full respray will never quite be the same as a factory finish. Take a look at www.detailingworld.co.uk (I think you have to be a member now).

Excellent advice above  :happy2: - maybe post some pics of the worst areas of your car and get a feeling from some of the guys on here who are detailers

Wheres the link,

I will check, mines is not too bad, but i think i need to get it done,  as ive got quite a few stone chips, paint is discoloured, swirl marks on one side of the car. Im thinking get it all re-done including the plastics and front lip in red like the grill.

From then im gonna tint all windows very dark smoke, get rims first then exhaust (milltek) then drop. After that im gonna do the engine (air filter, remap).

Guys, im alittle worried, does than anti roll bar for the front interfere if you drop the car and if i remap will the clutch burn out, as it did with my mk 4

I will take before and after pictures of the re-spray, hopefully it will be a decent job.

Is that before or after the correction?

The front is the area that the Mk5 GTi suffers with most.. rather then the sides and rear for stone chips and swirls...
