Post by: garrardrj on May 26, 2011, 03:21:18 pm
Can anyone help. My BT cable comes into the house there are four wires black , blue , white and green. I have a non nte5 master socket and want to attach these cables to it. I just want the socket to plug a phone into only. Can't get anything off internet!!!!!!!

You only need to wire the blue and blue/white wires to 2 and 5 respectively on the socket for the phone to work.

You should normally have blue/white, green/white, orange/white and brown/white off the top of my head.

If you have the time and patience try 2 of the 4 wires in all the various combinations. If you are adding an extension from the master socket you will need to extend 2, 3 and 5 so it will ring.

Blue and white is usually bt's first choice.

If for any reason that doesnt work try orange and white and then green and white and then finally black and white.

Wiring into the house into the Master socket is often a different colour to the internal wiring which employs multi coloured wires.
