Title: Painting rear lights!

Does anyone have any pictures of home made smoked lights? Either pre / during / post painting?

Me and my brother are going to have a bash at doing mine (Iv seen some Ed30 ones on ebay but they are nearly £200!!  :surprised:) Bit too expensive

Any tips on masking up the centre "circles"?

This is my first VW so bear (?) with me!!

are you painting them on the outside ? or are you going to tint them from the inside?

We were going to paint them on the outside using tinting spray with lacquer over the top but open to suggestions!

There's a couple of forumites who've done this and made a a sort of guide. Worth searching for.

I've had a good look around the forum and only found a couple of pictures of them masked up before the paint. God knows how the masking is so perfect but I will have a bash tomorrow!

heres my attempt at it....hope this helps....they need a good polish but i havent got any pictures of them polished....
i have no experience watsoever in painting or anything like this so if youv got an idea what you are doing then you should end up with a better finish than me lol they'r not perfect but still saved me 200pound for now

Brill, just what I was looking for! How do you get the curve of the circle with the tape? Lots of little bits over lapping each other?  :happy2:

nah a just used one continueos strip, make sure ur tape isnt cold tho, try use room temperature or warm tape because its more flexible and sticks better, just stick ur first bit down then run ur finger over the tape all the way round, u might have to use 2 or 3 strips but you will get the hang of it.

I didnt get chance to do them! Did my grills and wing mirrors and then ran out of time but I will get some pics up when there done!
