Hi Everyone
I need a spare Key for my Golf . VW are quoting 200+ for new key and programming !!!!!!
Any other way of going about it ????
Thanks in advance .

Avoid keys from eBay, VAG keys are brand linked and also many are once only use.
You can do it yourself with VCDS if you have the SKC (Security Key Code) for your car.
-
If going the VAG route for a spare key,do you need to produce log book etc?.Also this SKC,is that provided by VW again on producer of the log book?
-
I doubt vw will give ever give you the SKC willingly.
-
I think you'd need proof of ownership and also of course the other keys.
You won't get the SKC, the dealership don't see them anymore it's all handled by GEKO.

I phoned up my dealer gave them the vin and they ordered the key, they wanted me to pay for it over the phone
-
My spare was £160 all in from my local dealer last year, i needed Photo ID, log book and a bill... When they programmed the new key they wanted all keys for the car
-
Same ^^^^ £165 and all i needed was the V5 at the local dealer. I tried doing it myself with some instructions off of here but it was way beyond me.

£90 for the new key and coding
£15 for the remote from ebay, coded that myself
