Now then fellas it looks like I'll be having another operation on my knee later on in the summer which is going lay me up for 8-12 weeks so I'm looking for advice and opinion on which games console to buy to keep me out of trouble and off my feet. I'm mainly interested in the car/motorbike racing and probably football games and I'm also interested in a steering wheel type controller. So which console? which games? and which steering wheel? do you lot recommend, thanx :happy2:
-
The xbox fanboys will tell you one thing and the ps3 lot the other!!
I think they are both fairly comparable but games and online is the only real difference. Tough one matey but I'd have a ps3 purely for the blu ray! :happy2:
-
Xbox for me with Forza Motorsport and PGR on the driving front which are Xbox specific.
If you go PS3 then you get Gran Tourismo however the Xbox is cheaper.
There are a massive choice of games that are shared across the platforms but I mainly play the Call of Duty series.
As for a wheel I don't use one so can't really comment.
-
cheers fellas, @ Greeners the blu ray side of the PS3 is deffo an advantage :happy2:

xbox has sky player so you can use it to watch sky if you have an account.
I prefer the xbox controller but you need to take into account that you have to pay to go online with xbox
-
If you go online with PS3 your account will be hacked and the service off the air for weeks. :innocent:

Each have there merits i have a ps3 but theres not much difference between them, most my mates have a ps3 so i went with that for online games although i havnt used it for about 4 months :rolleye:

Ouch! Sounds painful mate.
I'm a PS3 fan as I like GT5 :driver:, plus it matches the other tech stuff around the TV!!

hello pal, yes it does sound painful, they want to break my Tibia and reset the knee joint and put a plate in, worst thing is both knees need doing
-
That's definitely horrendous.
I have the PS3. Bought it because of xbox rrod issues. Love its blu-ray support and works as a media server so I can download episodes of family guy and then watch them on the TV.
In retrospect, if I wanted pure gameplay I'd have gone with xbox but given the ps3 does so much more, I went for the latter.
-
cheers Stealth, I'm edging towards the PS3, as a few friends have them and the Blu ray side of things :happy2:
shame theres no thank you in random chat
-
I have both. The PS3 is the better all round media player (Blu-Ray, iplayer) but prefer using the 360 for gaming (prefer the controller).
Both are great. Most games are multi-platform so you won't miss many games.
If you will be playing online then just get whichever one your mates have.
-
I have had both and settled with the PS3.
PS3 also does 3D gaming and can be used as a 3D blu-ray player too.
the on demad stuff is great and i've used it a few times when my wife has missed her programmes.
I do miss Forza and PGR, but GT5 is a decent alternative.
Hope the ops go okay Gaz :happy2:

I'm sure you have someone lined up to walk your dog everyday - but I'm concerned about your car being sat there for 8 weeks :scared:,
You know I only live over the hill from you :innocent:, do you want me to take it for a run :driver: turn things over for you, say every weekend?
I've just got your best intrests at heart Gaz
-
Double Ouch!! Though you'll be like the bionic man when you're done...... :jumping:
Probably worth getting a Medal of Honour / Battlefield / Call of Duty game as well. Great to take out frustration with some shooting and general mayhem!! :fighting:
-
Sounds very painful indeed but think of the benefits after! (Im a physio by trade and kinda love this type of stuff!) Iv got both, PS3 and Xbox and if you want a purely gaming machine, get the xbox. If you want blu ray and some games, PS3 it is. Iv just bought Ratchet and Clank - thats the first game iv played on the PS3 and iv had it 2 months!
-
cheers for the advice and well wishes fellas, I'm trying to put the operation off at the minute due to work commitments, but its gonna have to be done soon I'm like a little old man creaking when I get out of bed in the morning
