i had this happen to me in tescos car park, there was cctv but they wernt able to show me it due to human rights on the person incase i found out who they were and went after them, didnt go through police as didnt seem worth it when the damage was repaired for £300 and my excess is £500

turned out for the better as my car was out of its MOT when it happened and i didnt know so id have ended up getting done if i did go through the police

Contact the Police. Some drivers won't hang around but will inform the Police of the incident. It happened to me a couple of years ago and it turned out that a little old lady had it my car but was afraid to wait. The Police passed on my details and the insurance did the rest.

Accidents happen and there are some good people left in the world. :innocent:

i think i will end up paying myself like you say its usually not worth the excess. it just takes the piss that people dont have the common courtesy to say sorry and just drive off not giving a sh*t, i hope they crashed on the way home and broke their legs horrible c@nts. also think all the good people have gone but you never know, ive left the missus phoning the feds.

At least its just the bumper shell without any additional panelwork damage. Sucks when this kind of thing happens. I hate taking my cars anywhere because of this.  :sad1:

contact the police and d/l a form from the MIB website. The MIB has a statutory £300.00 xs on all untraced driver scheme claims but if the work is going to cost say £700.00 at least you get £400.00 back

if you find out who did it go through an accident repair company, you dont need to involve your insurance.

They give you a like for like curtsey car and claim everything back through the other party.

I paid £10 to the accident repair company (insurance so if they didnt pay up nothing would come back in my direction)

i got a powerful curtsey car, and chose where i wanted my car repaired. 2months later i got a letter telling me they had got all the money back of her insurance.

No excess for me, Nothing on record with my insurance.

I know how you feel. My passenger side door strip and the driver's side of the bumper have been marked by other feckers.

Sinks your heart.

Hope you get it sorted, mate.

You can request CCTV images of yourself under the data protection act. Not relevant in this instance but worth knowing. They may not show the crash but you might be able to see what did it if you know what colour car hit you through paint on yours etc.

Its appalling when people do things like this. I saw someone do it the other day when they were parking. I made them wind down the window and made it quite clear that I saw what happened and if they didnt act on it, id report them.
