I've had a few different remaps on my car since I bought it, the latest and final company is Shark performance. They offer good customer service (I spent 6 hrs there at the weekend getting my remap tweaked, free of charge)
Also, if you are lucky, they quite often do group buys on Briskoda, where you can save £££££'s.
I took the option to get an sts unit with my remap, which was free with the group buy. The unit allows you to swich between maps, stock mode, imoobiliser mode etc, and also can be used as a fault code reader. all from the comfort of your residence, also this means you can just get the map emailed to you if you live too far away from their headquarters.
All the 3 dyno results below are off my car. I though the bluefin was by far the worst of the stage 3 remaps. My car had issues with Revo, CEL light kept coming on, and Revo werent very helpful, and had to get to get a refund.
The benefit of the shark map is the fact that it has very smooth delivery, and also if youre worried about stressing the engine with Revo stage 2+, this is a good compromise. I also achieve good mpg aswell.

Funnily enough your stage 3 Shark graph looks like this stage 3 Bluefin graph.

Hmmm shame Revo bought up a cel
-
Hmmm......
Why the Hmmmmm?
-
Because the Revo is a lot stronger.
-
graph looks nice and smooth and the torque is bang on in the middle of the bluefin and revo which is the ideal scenario. REVO potentially to much for a clutch, bluefin not enough. Torque curve is very flat as well.
Cracks me up looking at K04 power curves, your making more power than mine by 3300rpm :surprised:
Because the Revo is a lot stronger.
it might be but it also caused his car loads of issues which is why he swapped, so more power/torque isnt everything.
-
Because the Revo is a lot stronger.
But stronger is not always better. Power is nothing without control. :innocent:
-
My REVO map throws up a CEL every couple of weeks, claiming mixture too rich (which it is.)
I have to keep a closer eye on it than I would like.... I'm pleased Statllers are now REVO dealers, coz I'm hoping they can sort the f***ing thing!!
Matt
-
Aye it seems Revo are a bit hit and miss. I hope the OP is now happy with this map and did you run octane booster for the Dyno again?
-
Glad you finally got it sorted in the end Dom :happy2:

That was the fault code that I had aswell! Good luck with that then. It was every 30 miles or so for me before it returned.Aye it seems Revo are a bit hit and miss. I hope the OP is now happy with this map and did you run octane booster for the Dyno again?
No octane booster this time. Wasted money last time, wasn't going to do it again. If anything there was a little bit of 97 octane in the tank!
-
Ah great.
The funny thing is, I don't think Hurdy had that problem (and I run the same settings on the same car, just a different fuel pump, I/C and Intake) so perhaps it IS a problem with something that goes with the map.
I'd guess the map is still at least partially to blame, just maybe not entirely.
I have spoken to Ben about a map for mine too as he obviously knows you had the same problem as he saw when he VCDS'd my car.
Matt
-
Hi Matt - what error code is that please?
-
'Mixture too rich' is what's reported. Can't remember the number though.
Matt
-
Are you considering moving away from REVO then?
-
I'll consider anything at the right price and if the product is good mate lol. On this occasion, only Ben at Shark has convinced me to consider my position. I'm not tempted by GIAC etc.
There is a downside though which is that now Stattlers are REVO vendors, I feel I might get better support because I go there for everything (as Hurdy did.)
Does anyone think another +1 to 'Fuelling' VIA the SPS would make a diff (+ leans out the mix I'm told) or not? The car currently runs Hurdys settings, no idea if he had the same CEL probs.

the error I had was
008584 - Bank 1; System too Rich at Idle
P2188 - 008 - Implausible Signal
new MAF and PCV didnt make any difference.
I had Revo DSG software loaded onto my car on friday, might be able to brake the 340bhp barrier now :rolleye:
Just waiting for a slot at PDtuning to get it back on the dyno. I must admit it has made the gear changes smoother, and its nice to be able to change gear when you want to rather that when it decides :happy2:

I have heard leaking seals on the HPFP can cause this fault code? I don't think i'd go from Revo. My car seems to like it and it's relentless power on the road. Been running it for 40k ish now and never got a faul code. Interesting how some engines give problems with Revo and others don't. However my clutch doesn't like Revo but i don't mind upgrading it, worthwhile mod.
-
Well, if it was the fuel pump at fault, I had the same pump on when I ran Bluefin stage 3, PDTuning stage 2, and a stock file, and the code didnt appear on any of the other remaps, but appeared 20mins after installing Revo.
Anyway, back to topic
I had the dsg box remapped, so torque limiter has now been raised.
I made the trip back to the Rolling road to see what the results are like, even on the graph the torque is limited to the new limiter, where it flatlines, so would be interesting to see how this map performs on a manual gearbox!

how many miles had you done after the remap when you had the last dyno before the DSG remap? Might have now fully adapted
Its a job job PDTs graphs are always scaled the same as it helps to compare the curves, ....hang on a minute.....

your now making 334Hp about 1500rpm earlier which is good
-
Good result :happy2:
-
I'd done about 250miles before I had it RR'd the first time, I've only covered about 100 miles since the last Dyno.
At least I got what I was after in the end
-
Glad to get over 340, now dom might leave me alone
Janner, stop whinging about scaling, dom will be emailed a graph with the scaling the same as before, he took that photo before the dyno'ing (if thats a word?) was finished :P
Shows what good DSG sofware can do, its such an overlooked mod!

I have exactly that code on Revo Stage 1 and Revo stock - oil stank of fuel so replaced the HPFP as a precaution, miles better now but code keeps coming back even on Revo stock.
PCV already done by previous owner, going to check for boost leaks next, then change MAF, after that I'm out of ideas short of sticking the OEM code on to see if that sorts it.
How much was DSG software?

Its what i do   I have to produce grading graphs for HV Switchgear all the time so im hot on scaling lol
Didnt think DSG would add that much power tbh :surprised:, thought maybe it would make the power further on due to the limiter being raised but not make that power earlier. maybe some adaptation i guess, either way that makes the DSG remap good £/bhp IMO

shark have a group buy on still

Nathan, are you a stock file, or revo stock version that has been switched by an spp switch?
Pm me if you like.
-
Revo Stock switched via OBDII dongle thing (SPS?), am all ears at this point.

Do you have VCDS?
-
Yes Dave, no more hassle off me until at least next year when I move onto the suspension upgrades
I've been contemplating Revo DSG software for a while now, PDT will vouch for that, should have got it at christmas when I was going to and would have saved £££££
Its more than the fact it gives extra power and torque, makes a big difference to the way it shifts, doesnt change gear by itself anymore in manual mode, also changes gear a lot smoother than what it did before. A good mod, wish I had done it earlier. It isnt cheap though, but I would have got it eventually anyway regardless of what map I had on :happy2:
The MAF didnt make any difference when I changed mine mind.
By the way, revo stock by the sps isnt a true stock file, only true Revo stock file is when the dealer completely flashes the car back to stock with his laptop. Mine was still requesting 130 bar of fuel pressure when set to stock via the sps!
-
Yes, will head out and do some logging, just a set of logs as listed on the APR site required?
Need to find a quiet private road for 4th gear pulls :happy2:
Also assume that throttle just to the detent on the pedal to avoid kickdown is the correct way to do it?
-
For logging I would run the car in manual mode.
-
Have it in 3rd gear, then change to 4th, but keep the paddle pressed in, then floor the throttle with the paddle constantly pressed. If u don't keep paddle in, when you floor throttle, it will change down a gear by itself.
I would persevere with Revo, get in touch with Revo hq, and try and persuade them to sort it out before you start swapping tuners, might have to drive to their hq, you might be lucky and get it sorted :happy2:
-
Having the paddle constantly pressed was the bit I was missing, thanks. :happy2:

Only times I've had a cel was at Spa in Belgium and then initially after I had the decat fitted. :happy2:
-
You can do it either way Nathan.
Manual mode in either case, press until the stop but not to the floor or change up and hold the upshift lever and press the throttle.
-
Smoke test done on inlet side - no leaks.
Removed Revo completely and back to OEM VW code to see what happens...
-
If it was anything like mine, you wont get any CEL on anymore.......
Did some datalogging today, car certainly isnt on MBT anymore :scared:

Looks ok, holding requested boost nicely and plenty of fuel in there to cope with the high numbers in the ignition advance. Could easily take a good 3-4 degrees out of the map without sacrificing any power or response.
