Title: Weird noise while parked up?
Post by: dmac1969 on June 03, 2011, 11:33:33 am
Hello all
Just got the car out to give it a detail and while after parking it outside my house I heard a strange noise I dont recall hearing before. It seems to be coming from underneath at the rear and sounds like a drop of water plopping into a bath/pool etc , but slightly metallic? It is at its loudest while crouching beside the drivers side rear wheel.... is this something I should be concerned about? If it makes any difference , I just got the car serviced yesterday at VW - it appears to be driving fine though.

As you were detailing the car I assum you had covered it in water at some point?  Coudl it just be the water dribbling off into a pool due to the angle the car was sat at?  only other thing could be fuel making its way along the fuel vapour return path and condensing out and back into the tank?

Fuel pressure relief to the fuel tank chap. Nothing to worry about.
