Title: ARB advice
Post by: craig_t on June 04, 2011, 11:44:03 am
Can anyone here help me with anti roll bars. I'm looking to uprate my front arb but not really sure what to look for. I know there are different sizes and what not but I'm still unsure what's best.

To begin with what size is the oem arb??

There reason I'm after a arb is that since iv lowered my gti my wheels sometimes catch the arch when corning hard. Am I right in thinking a Uprated arb will help keep the car level when corning.

My coilovers already have a pretty firm ride so I thought that there wouldnt be much body roll once fitted, ( which there isn't really) but the is a little bit. I'm guessing il need the bigger diameter arb.

So can anyone advise me on what would be best.

Cheers

I have never heard of an arb being used to stop rub, I always thought it designed to keep the wheels on the ground during a corner. If your rubbing, have you done the wheel arch mod?

I have posted the OEM ARB sizes in former threads.

.... No problem, mate :happy2: - I enjoy the banter and if you dish it out you've gotta be able to take it when aimed at you.

you most definitely dont want to just uprate the front ARB as this will make your car handle worse.  Stiffer front bar = more understeer, stiffer rear bar = less understeer.  Considering the std set-up under-steer's quite alot already....

As others have said, fitting just an uprated front ARB to a FWD car is handling suicide really. Do both if your going to do it. I understand your theory about it stopping the rubbing. Have a look at the arch mod people have mentioned.

We do a KW ARB kit that has front & rear uprated roll bars that are adjustable.
