Hi,
I was at a local VW dealer checking out a manual GTI. They also had a DSG. The dealer said I can drive the DSG just like a Manual. Is this true. I always though that you had to use paddles with the DSG? Also is there a clutch pedal with the DSG as in a normal manual car? Sorry for being such a newb.
Thanks,
C
PS If you live in NI the local stealer is getting a Pirelli in next week!! Don't think there are many, if any over here.

Did you not sit in the DSG car?
It's an automatic but can be driven in manual mode - you can use the paddles or the gear stick to shift up/down as you please (within reason I believe) but you can't block change up/down.

No clutch pedal either. :happy2:

Thanks for clearing that up. Didn't have time to sit in and inspect, or test drive. I think I will stick to a manual, although I'm sure there are a few people here that would try to convince me otherwise ;-)

Its an electronically controlled manual, twin clutch system, nothing like an auto... but works as one or can be controlled like a manual...

Don't be a muppet. Go and test drive the DSG car.
When you're flooring it, the shifts are very smooth. I have a manual and there are times I wish I had gone for DSG instead of being scared off by the problems on the early boxes in America when DSG first came out (later turned out to be mechantronics).

Go Drive a dsg... You might well regret it
