Hi guys
On 3 occasions now my n/s rear passenger window has gone down on it's own?
1st time I woke up one morning and found it to be all the way down and then other 2 times I found it to be only slightly open! Thought this was strange as no other windows were down and hadn't had any passengers in the back of the car?
This is a obviously a concern and I reported to VW as still under warranty but they advised they ran diagnostics but couldn't find a problem! They have since advised they will replace a sensor which may resolve the issue?
Has anyone else had or heard of this problem and what was the issue as I'm always worried about booking the car into VW when they never fill me with confidence!!
Cheers

The phantom opening windows is a known issue that some cars suffer I believe it is related to the anti pinch function although it has been mentioned on here a couple of times I dont think anything was ever mentioned regarding the fix I would guess the electronics on the window regulator would be replaced as as far as I know there is no secondary sensors for the shut position and its just resistance to motor movement thats used.
To help you visualise what the unit looks like the picture below is a rear golf window regulator is made up of a single unit with motor and control unit all in one, the black box un-clips and has a motor spindle speed sensor on the end.

I came back to find the passenger side window open. Must be related to the faulty anti-pinch function. There's a problem with one-touch closing. The window goes up - hits the top - then goes down to 3/4 open. My old car had full-closure, so i always forget to close the windows before getting out. I used the key fob, and because I was driver-side, I walked off and didn't see the passenger-side window go back down. Have to remember to manually close the windows now - but at least they stay closed.

This happened to me in Asda car park, came back to car with Beer, saw the window was down and thought oh f**k
Close everything manually now also.

This was happening to me a few months back and was driving me crazy. It only started happening after I used the option of closing all the windows with the key fob when locking up. After a few more goes playing around with the fob I must have reset whatever gremlins had gotten into the system and I now don't have the problem anymore

That's interesting... mine only started playing up after I used the key fob a few times too. I'm going to play with it tomorrow and see if it will 'reset' itself.
