Have a 2007 gti dsg
Comes with standard rcd300 and looking at a 2011 rns510 v c
Read threads about battery drainage issues?
How much would it cost to upgrade the canbus ?
Thanks

If its a 2007, you may well be ok. What month was it - generally anything after March is fine :happy2:

Located in cambridge
Yes was made/registered march 07

Ideally you need to have your car scanned with Vag-com so you can see what you have. As said earlier you may be lucky and don't need to upgrade.
If you buy the gateway from the dealer new then it would cost around £130 or you can buy one from ebay for less
You will need someone with Vag-com to code it
I'm not too far away in Great Yarmouth if you need it fitted and coded

Ok thanks il keep that in mind
Whats the oldest version gateway that will take the rns510 without battery probs?
What do i ask for exaxtly at the stealers?
Any specific module/canbus, newer the better i presume?

K version and above
I would stick with the newer ones

Its Really Revision L or above some Revision K will be fine but others will not. Vw charge about £150 for a can gateway. i can supply gateways for £100 plus fitting. im near Romford if its any use

Mine is Jan 07 (K) and was fine, I'd definitely try it first before buying a new gateway

yeah try it first. you could always run modified fw2760 giving you no battery drain and still having 7 digit postcode
