I've got my old o2 3GS sitting here and want to give it to my gf who is on T- Mobile. The phone is currently locked to o2. I want to unlock it but don't want to jailbreak etc as I want to keep it simple for the gf to sync to itunes etc.
Is it a case of paying o2 to unlock it or is there another legit way to unlock?

O2 should be able to do it, but they may charge you or may even refuse if the handset is still within a contract period. Give them a call first just to check before looking at other options :happy2:

You'll need to use 02 for an official unlock.

On another note, nothing like digging out your old 3gs to make you appreciate the 4's retina display!

My Mrs uses my old 3G, using that makes you appreciate the speed of the iPhone4 :evilgrin:

What do we expect from the 5 then? Didn't get a 3 due to not being impressed with it , 4 is great piece of kit......too expensive but good things are. Trouble is i can't live without it now

Some jailbreak programs will do just an unlock, just choose not to install any softwrae updates when you connect it to itunes, then you wont have any sync problems.

I still have an iphone 3g..... :sad1: and its rubbish, so so so so so slow! Thinking of an HTC HD7 or wait for the new iphone next. My mate unlocked his old phone for his GF via jailbreak but it was a nightmare to do

Since i nt ip4 at launch, I've still got a 3G sitting in it's box really got to sell it, it's also locked to O2. Should I unlock and punt it to speedsell or the like? S

Unlock it via O2 and stick it up on eBay :wink:
