The GTI, if its a Mk5 does not have a dump valve. It has a diverter valve instead.

They do make a DV (diverter valve) and they also make a spacer which spaces out the DV to make more noise

If you want more noise, get the forge spacer

If its a normal GTI, takes an hour or so as youll have to get behind the engine via the drivers wheel arch to remove the DV and put the spacer in between

Also do you have to buy the diviter valve to fit the spacer?

No. The engine already has the DV fitted to it mate. The spacer just goes in between

If you jack up the car, and slide under it, you can easily reach the re-circ valve, and change it / add a spacer. It took me about 15 minutes to change my car's valve.

Really? Does it make a good sound? How loud is it?

I found it louder inside the car with the oem DV.  Its a 'whooshy' / hissy dumpvalve type noise.  People outside the car would certainly hear it
