Title: new lens advice please
Post by: PDT on June 14, 2011, 06:11:24 pm
I have a G10 Lumix Camera and the standard  14-42mm lens, which is very limited on range. What would be the 'next lens up' that will give me more zoom ability? wheres the best place to buy?

Does the G10 take any Micro Four Thirds lens, or does it have to be a Lumix lens?

I would also be interested to know as I have this camera too. I have been looking at the Panasonic Lumix  45-200mm Mega OIS Micro Four Thirds  :happy2:

Let me know your thoughts once you have had more time to use it, I'm resisting buying one for now!

I have a Panasonic G1 and also the 45-200mm lens. It's a good enough lens, but as with all zoom lenses at full magnification, you really need a tripod to keep it steady.
You can manage(just)with the mega-ois switched on,by taking your time and steadying yourself.
I don't know about the G10,but mine has an upto 4x digital zoom hidden away in the menu, which you definitely need a tripod/monopod!
There are adapter rings available should you wish to buy other lenses, but not sure how much these are.
HTH.
