Title: passenger airbag not plugged in?
Post by: karl210 on June 15, 2011, 02:38:34 pm
I bought my car as a repaired catagory D write off, everything seemed fine to me, i did notice the airbag light flashed saying it was off but i thought this was just beause the key was in the off position, anyway after switching it to the on position it still does it. yesterday i removed the dashboard end cover and noticed its unplugged. Any ideas on whether i should plug it back in? get it checked out or just leave it? i dont fancy replacing the dashboard because i just plugged it in without thinking, obviously i know to disconnect the battery for 30 mins to let it discharge but if theres a problem it will blow anyway when i connect the battery, help, cheers

I'ts a tough call to be honest.

Does it look like it's been previously activated - that would be my first thought.

Hard to tell really, dash seems secure with no signs that its been replaced. There is something thats cracked in the engine bay, has a new rad and the top slam panel must be off a gti with aircon as my car doesnt have aircon and it has the refridgerant sticker on if you get me? it also has a gti kit fitted so not sure if that is needed for the gti bumper or it has had a decent front end whack, my car is a non gti by the way.

I think you'll probably need to think about getting another airbag then to be honest.

Have you checked with VCDS and see if the crash sensor has faults logged?
