Now that ive got your attention, are there any shooting ranges in the UK where you can just go along and shoot some guns at targets? I dont want to become a member or anything as it will just be a one off for a female friend who for some reason wants to go shooting.
Cheers :happy2:

Clay pigeon shooting is pretty good fun, as for ranges not seen one since i left school we had one there to shoot .22 rifles
Used to have a couple of air rifles too when i was in my teens and lived out in the sticks, used to hang out my window taking shots at pigeons and rabbits in the field behind, great fun :happy2:
And i have heard if you want to have some serious fun with weapons then go to vietnam/laos you can fire all sorts of weapons from an ak47 to rpg, you can even pay extra to fire at animals anythng from a chicken to a cow if you miss you get to keep it :rolleye:
-
Reckon the easiest option would be clay shooting you get to handle a double barrell shot gun and blast some moving targets and you can often pay and play (obviously supervised)
-
Clays are your only chance. It's hard enough owning anything tasty with a licence, they're not going to jeopardise that by letting punters loose with powerful handguns and rifles.
Shotguns are very satisfying and I'm sure she'll love it. I've had a good haul of bunnies and pheasant in the pot so far this year :happy2:
-
Do we not have shooting galleries like they keep showing on American TV shows? :fighting:
-
Ive been invitied to go along with someone from another forum to some clay pigeon shooting but as stealthwolf has mention, im more after a shooting range where I can let loose a couple rounds of a pistol!
-
Not sure where abouts in the UK you are but there is a big shooting range in Bisley near woking.
I went clay pigeon shooting there a few weeks back, was great fun.
You have to book but dont think there is long waiting list.
-
I've been to Bisley a couple of times on their open days. Shotguns are fun.
The sad fact is that even the GB Olympic Pistol team have to go abroad to train such are the gun laws nowadays.

Mate.....
Go to the US on a weekend break, I'm on an annual course in Orlando and it's a regular thing now where the instructors take us to a range or two and blow 2-300 bucks on ammo!
The instructors each have a variety of pistols one guy has twin .45's (saving private Ryan pistol) so loosing off a couple of clips with one in each hand is just mental good fun.
If you pick the right range you can rent AK's, M16's, Mach 10's. You'll probably have somebody from the Sheriffs department in the next lane on a Saturday morning doing a revalidation......if you compare it to the UK it's a little surreal.
Once was next to an 85 year old Granny who could shoot the cock off a fly, she left and ordered up some special home defence ammo (the mercury tipped stuff that explodes on impact), couldn't help feel sorry for the punk who was going to climb her stairs in the middle of the night.
So do some research and get yourself stateside, so much more fun than over here.....it's a bucket list item IMHO

I don't what your all on about i've fired everything from .22 rifle ammunition to .50cal HMG in the UK :P :booty:

That's cos you need the extra practise, anything smaller than a barn door needn't worry was what I heard..... :booty:

Couldn't hit the water if he fell out of a boat.....................

The Yanks are awesome shots, so long as you tell them it's a civilian or ally target... Cheap flight to Croatia or similar will bag you some dangerous stuff too.

It's not my fault if the targets all move at the last minute :sad1:

My thoughts exactly poverty :stupid:

I don't agree that the UK Gun laws are too nanny state. We have them for good reason.
Honestly you are not missing much and if you want to know what it feels like to fire say an M16 then get your mate to give you a jovial punch in the shoulder.

Have you tried the new Audi shooting range near Vagoc just by Tring. I have heard even if you shoot at the new target called the megane 265 Trophy, the bullets bend in flight and end up hitting the TTRS target.
