Hi Guys,
First post, but been reading them for ages.
Been saving for a mk 5 gti, and surprised to see these few examples for under £6000. im not expecting perfect cars for this money but surley a bit too good to be true? Though id ask the experts, dont wanna buy a car that last 1000 miles!

the last one has been ruined with those black alloys.....but yeah, what do you guys think?
-
The black alloy boys will be along soon..................... :popcornsoda:
-
it was meant to say the black alloys loke nice....iphone predictive text is a pain....
-
First one is a foreign import mate, only manual air con not climate. :happy2:
-
Lot of car for the monies in the first example. At that age, being an import wouldn't necessarily rule it out for me.

you might just escape the wrath with that disclaimer buddy,..... but i doubt it lol

Black alloys :fighting: :signLOL:
Any way the 2 bottom gti are in bradford :signLOL: need I say more :signLOL:
-
And either the owner or Autotrader don't know the peformance figures for an Ed30, lol!!
-
There's only one reason why things are cheaper than they should be. There is something up with all three i would say , perhaps not the 114000 miler. I would go with that one first.
Never pay less than you think they are worth. Too many people have gone for the bargain to regret it later. One man i met in my trade bought a VR6 Corrado a few years ago in a layby for £2000 less than the real value.........guess what? We took it off him and gave it back to the real owner ! He paid £13000 quid in cash in a layby !
-
First one is an import and the second one is just a standard GTI (just has the ED30 alloys).
All seem too cheap. I would avoid them.

Few people on here have learnt the hard way that patience is key. If it seems to good to be true it probably is, unfortunately

Oh, Halifax aint too far away :P :signLOL:
-
That Ed30 fake is very sneaky indeed!!!!!!!!
-
What is the easiest way to confirm if a car is an import?

Not sure if it is the easiest way but if you can get hold of an invoice print out for when it has gone in for a VW service at the top of the invoice where it lists engine code, etc it will also say Import
or at least that's how i found out one example i was looking at was an import because the dealer never mentioned it but he did admit it freely when i questioned him. Would have prefered that he put it in the car's description on auto trader.

i wouldn't buy a thing off them, looks way to dodgy

Hey Guys....Im Back!
Finally got myself the GTI I wanted!
Pics to follow....
Been reading more and more on the forum over the last 2 years....cannot wait to get started with a few subtle changes....!
I got a 5 door silver (baby friendly, keeps mrs happy), leather, 18 monza 2's (refurb to silver, non polished), 6 cd changer, DSG.
First things will be led interior lights (white), osram headlight bulbs, toying with the idea of some drl healights but keep changing my mind, boot pop hatch....and of course......RTech remap stage 1!
Also like the idea of the ed30 / pascaras that always seem to be on sale here too.
I live in Tamworth so if anybody knows a good garage who is trustworthy in the area, I'd be interestee to know. Service is due now.
Its been worth the wait! Love this car!
