Problem with a mini original one in top condition is that your feel guilty driving it. The one above is begging to be spanked around a track!

Which wasnt even standard spec for a late spec 16v in Oak Green. They had rainbow trim interior, not tartan seats.  :happy2: So it wouldnt be so original.

I sold it for £2500 back in 2006. Then the trader that bought it from me (i didn't know he was a trader) put it up for sale for about £5k. Then the guy that bought it was a member on here, ironically, he also contacted me about the car and ended up paying over £2k more for it than i sold it for.
It was a guy that has owned his fair share of mint Mk1/Mk2 Golfs etc, also had a Mk5 GTI/R32 and moved to Dubai. Cant remember his name, but illyun rings a bell.
It needed a clutch and top mounts. But apart from that it was a 70k ish Mk2 that i had put back together like airfix. It had been barn stored in boxes of bits for a while.

yeah it is is iily who is golf mad  :signLOL: and he is in dubai too

few years back (well probably nearer 10 years back now) there was a metallic green mk2 for sale with a corrado vr6 conversion that had been track prepped and was in show class condition.  I was sorely tempted and in hindsight probably should have just bought it. Didnt tho - had the cash as well as i was still living at my folks.

Me too. Modified ones are two a penny, were as oem ones are getting rare.

Just about to take my mates 8V off him which is in bits on his drive!
I just can't bear to see it go to the dump!

Saw some MK2s a little while back near my hometown, 3 being sold by the same guy, saying that when he got bored with one colour, he bought a car with a different colour! :\ And people say there was a recession...

The fact that your posting it on here means you DO want it. You just need a nudge to go get it. Id say if the chassis is not rotten then just do it!!

Work of art. As soon as I have some where to keep it, I shall have one.

how much?
Gratis! I just have to promise him a go when I track it.
Solid no rust.
Gearbox in a box in his garage!
Engine dubious.
I am thinking 16V with carbs!
Wife has said yes.
He was going to scrap it :scared: I just can't bear to see it become another statistic!
Its just me now, lot of work but I have to have a project or I get bored!
