Anyone know why my fans won't run when the aircon is turned on low when the car is stationary and the engine cold, yet when you've been on a run and the car is hot, the fans both run on slow speed as they should. I've just had the system re-gassed and there is no faults on VAG com, could it be a faulty sensor somewhere or maybe the controller in the large fan is playing up ?
Any feedback appreciated

how long did you let it run for while stationary?
-
It was idling for around 5 mins. Also, if you press the ECON button, the air is warmer through the vents than if the aircon is on, but nowhere near as cold as when the car is moving (because than fans aren't on I guess)

Does the mk5 suffer from the faulty cooling fans like the mk4 does?
-
Yes it does suffer from faulty fans, but it seems funny the fans both work sometimes.

What happens if you try to manually turn the fan up?
-
Do you mean when the aircon is set to low ?
The blower fan seems to run at full speed anyway on this setting

Just checked it again yesterday, working perfectly when the car's hot (both fans cut in at slow speed when LOW is selected on the aircon and switch off when the ECON button is pressed) but this doesn't happen when the car's only been driven a mile or two. Can anyone try it with their car to see if the fans cut in straight after start up when the aircon is on ?
