Well i wont be doing a job like this again in a hurry. i started at 3.30 and have just come in after 5hours. Had to drop the whole subframe down and what a pain in the :booty:. Finally got the arb off and have split the casings ready for the polybush ones which are due to come tomorow. Also thought i would change the suspension top mounts as i had to take it all apart anyway and upon doing this found the cause of my knocking noise. The bearings had an unbelievable amount of play in them. So on one side im happy that i found the cause but on the other wish id found it before i took the front arb out.
Does anyone else have polybushed front arb bushes and do they change anything much. Only cost me 35quid so not tooo fused if they dont and a least now i have new bits including, top mounts, drop link bars front and rear, front and rear arb bushes and also replaced the subframe bolts so my kocking had to be one of them and was the last one i did. ah well thats life :fighting:

Good effort mate :happy2:
Wouldnt want to tacke it on my driveway. Want to have my top mounts checked
-
i must admit it wasnt very nice as its a stone driveway :signLOL: So happy i found the top mounts shot and it was £75 well spent for them. just waste of time and money for the arb bushes. bet its thrown my tracking way out too. look forward to a nice bill for 3d alignment again.
Ah well with that out the way i can start saving for my ko4  :pomppomp:

£75 a pair? How long do you think it would take a garage to do? :drinking:
-
no sorry i paid 75 for the top mount and the bearing for both sides so was only 37.50 per side. I would imagine a garage would charge 1.5HRS labour each side or something around that maybe more like and hour as they have proper lifts and tools to hand. Seems after searching on here that the top mounts are very common on lowered cars to fail :happy2:

Hi mate,
Can I ask what sort of noise the knocking was with the worn top mounts? I've got a sort of rattle or dry rubber type noise from both sides under the windscreen trim area when going over slight bumps or dips in the road.
Wondering if this is the problem
Cheers
George

If you already drop the subframe I'd swap the arb for a whiteline.

I probably should have just bitten the bullet and changed fot a whiteline arb but i didnt want to pay out for it and the bushes were only 35quid so was a compromise i spose. The knocking noise was when i went forwards and back. or after slowing and then pulling away again i would get a knock. Sadly the noise is hard to explain as when it happens it vibrates through the car and is hard to establish where it is coming from hence me working my way through different possibilities until i found where it was coming from.
