Best advice with the DSG is give it time to get used to it. It's not perfect but if you adapt your driving a little, you'll get on fine. Anticipate kick-down - it can take longer than you think to drop more than one cog. And take your time with reverse, it can take a second or two to engage. Rush it and you'll be lurching backwards dangerously. For overtaking, use Sport as again kick-down can be a pain. When making progress, be smooth with the throttle to main your gear and avoid the kick-down switch at the end of the pedals travel.
As I said, DSG isnt perfect but learn to drive with it rather than just expecting it to do as you want and you'll be fine. The DSG 'box is extremely well suited to the TDI engine.

I have a manual 140 GT and a mate has a DSG 170. Found the DSG a piece of cake to get used to, for general pottering around although when I was driving briskly cross country, I didn't feel as confident as I did with a manual when under braking. DSG was on my list of 'wants' when I bought my car but they were higher mileage within my budget. My mate wouldn't have a manual so DSG was his 'must have'. Incidentally we both have experience of non-manual boxes as we've both owned (he's still got his) CSL's which have a auto mode along with their semi-automatic mode. The automatic mode in CSL's is pretty crap compared to the DSG if thats of any importance! :happy2:
