I had 4 coil packs and plugs replaced in Dec 10 could they have failed so early
-
Unless one of your spark plug holes has water in it?
Are you running with the engine cover on or off?

A coil pack can fail at any time!
Probably the best avenue to persue for trobleshooting is to get a fault scan done with vcds. This should point you in the correct direction.

Should have asked whereabouts are you based?
-
I am based in newcastle.
Engine cover is on.
The car is a 56 plate i had the coil packs and plugs replaced before the recall will i be able to get new coil packs thru the recall

No, once the dealer sees that your coilpacks version are not in the recall their responsibilities end.

Would coilpacks be covered under the 60K/3 year warranty?

It should be if a fault code pointing to it is found but I'm not 100% certain.

I have the same symptoms but mines a gt tdi with no coil packs. Has no effect on power it runs great and no fault codes. What could cause this on a diesel?

I have water in cyl4 hole :( and a misfire. Changed coils (all 4) think I'm going to have to change the plugs again after only 2 - 3000 miles grrrrr

Can't you simply dry out the water?
-
Ussually blow it out with an air line when changing the plugs.
