Title: engine cutting out

yesterday i went for a drive up the backroads to open up the gti for a bit since its been a while! turned the traction control off and away i went. after pushing her quite hard i was coming out a corner and put the foot down and the power just cut out for about 5 seconds then came back on again? is this a problem with the car or is the traction control kicking in even tho it had been turned off?  :sad1:
