Is there any way to check and garuntee for myself that a bumperthat im going to buy is genuine vw n noy anysort of copy or fake. This is because the seller is unsure himself. A weird question but its important i dont buy a copy, its without grills or anything just the bare bumper. A possible bargain thats all.
Thanks
Any help apprecieated...

there will be a vw stamp on a genuine one, along with a part number

Good shout Jay, just to add the copy/fake bumpers usually have the splitter at the bottom intergrated/moulded has part of the bumper. and also the washer inserts will be part of the bumper.

Much appreciated and it all makes sense. Any specific part number or will it be different, the vw stamp could be anywhere on the bumper i think.

Some copies are really good, you get some that are insurance approved!

I have an Xparts bumper at the minute...the bottom valance is integrated, and the alignment underneath the wings is very good, but not perfect. Foglight grilles are pretty much totally vented, whereas original ones are mainly solid?
However, my upper mouldings came in two pieces (for headlight washers) but I replaced them with genuine one piece mouldings instead. I also have a genuine GT centre grille.
The average bloke wouldn't know it wasn't an original part.
Hopefully this helps you.
EDIT: Sorry I just re-read your post and assumed the bumper was already on the car! Part number and integrated bottom is the telltale signs.
