Anyone know if they will work together. some places on google search say yes... wondered if anyone here actually had?

Not entirely sure what the question is. Yes they will work together but not sure what you mean by together.

The REVO Select switch alters your REVO remap settings and VAG-COM(VCDS) alters your car settings.
VCDS is also a very useful diagnostic tool.

why would you want to, in what way, you change the settings using your switch at standstill, then take some live reading with VAGcom :happy2:

I think I understand now.
To use VCDS on a MK5 you will need a CAN capable cable. Check here www.ross-tech.com, a micro-can is sufficient. :happy2:
The REVO select switch on the end of a USB lead is not enough.

VCDS (VAG-COM) software is not free, the registration is built into the cable as a sort of dongle.

the older version 409 or close... says it works with third party cables. so they cant have the "registration" built in..

The 409 version will work with 3rd party ebay cables but not with a CAN-Bus based car.

It MUST be the latest s/w version plus either a Micro CAN or Hex-CAN-USB cable.

2.2  What's the difference between the Shareware version and the fully registered version?

All of our Current Interfaces  have Activation built-in, so VAG-COM will always be Fully Registered/Activated. If you have an older Interface without built-in Activation, or have purchased an Interface somewhere other than Ross-Tech, VAG-COM will operate in Shareware mode until it is Activated. The differences between Shareware and fully registered/activated versions are listed near the bottom of each function page in the Online Demo / Manual and in the VAG-COM Function Chart.
