Don't think any of the DJ waxes are much different from each other, save maybe supernatural. Get a set of panel pots if you want. Remember that 95% of the finish is in the prep work. No wax in the world is going to make a poorly prepped car look amazing.

As for wheel sealant, I use Poorboys. There are loads of others. As long as they're suitable for wheels or high-temps, they should be fine.

thanks for the replys, ive used autoglym and meguirs before thought they were okay, thats why i wanted a change.  i would say my prep works good. i think ill def be going for the poorboys sealant and i might just buy some sample pots of dodo juice
cheers  :happy2:

I owned the same colour as yourself :happy2: and I have used a ton of different products. But settled on DJ Lime prime and the lite as they gave the car a bit depth and gloss and for a wax I used R/F rub or if i felt like pushing the boat out - blue velvet pro edition. and sometimes HD wax.

Cheers man! Nice car looks cool with black wheels too. What you driving now? Was there a big difference in lime prime and the lite, which is better? Even though the rainforest rub is for all colours it was still best ye?  Which wheel sealant did you find best have you ever tried poorboys?

Lime Prime has abrasives so it provides a light cut to the paintwork. LPL doesn't have these abrasives. Both with cleanse the paintwork as well act as a glaze.

Thanks for your post. Am I being stupid or am I right saying if lime prime with the abrasives in it is not used properly it may leave swirls or light scratches? Would you need to apply with a machine polish? Or is it easy used and gives a better finish?

Driving a Vw Caddy van now. as prev mentioned the LP has abrassives in it, you can use by hand or DA. I just like the Rf easy to use and can be used an all colours like hard candy as well. Yes I have used the PW wheel sealant and the chemical guys version as well, PW being the better of the two.

I've applied it by hand and by DA. It's just easier to work in with a DA. No swirls. When I first bought a bottle of LPL a few years ago, it said to apply, allow to haze and then buff off. So I applied to the whole car, allowed to haze and then found it was a b!tch to remove. When I had a chat with the Dodo guys about this, they said the instructions were incorrect. You apply a small amount to a 12"x12" area and work it in, then buff off.

Will second the Dodo Juice Lime prime and Banana-Armour or perhaps (Hard Candy pretty sure from memory).

It works about 100 times easier than any of the meguiars range. I basically dropped all my Meguiars NXT/NXT2 range products.
Don't get me wrong, all the hours spent (me 27 hours) the car looks great. But just average only after 2 weeks. The Dodo Juice. It's coming up to 7 weeks and still looks amazing.

Pic up Dodo Juice Dodo Clay & Born Slippy Duo. It's a fantastic claybar kit. Super easy to use and I managed to cut my Claybar in 5 and have used first piece on 3 cars. I might do one more before going on to my 2nd piece.

Thanks for all the great replys guys. So out of the 2 I'm better to go for lime prime not the lite and shouldnt have a problem applying? Since I'm getting good feedback do yous mind me asking which polish people use or recommend, I've been using auto glym ultra deep shine? is lime prime a polish or is it just for cleaning the paint to make it easier to use wax?

Lime Prime is a very light cut polish but does have micro-abrasives in it, so can be used and can be applied by machine or hand. I use menzerna polishes for polishing.

With lime prime having micro-abrasives in it this wont mean me making scratches in my car would it? I would be applying by hand. Sorry if my annoying and repetitive with my questions just wanting to learn how to do it properly, cheers

You'll be fine with LP by hand. Trust me - I've done my whole car by hand with LP.

Post by: badly_dubbed on July 01, 2011, 04:59:14 am
you will inflict more micromarring with the applicator than LP will inflict.

if you want it done right, the only option is by machine. good results can be had by hand, however technique and alot of time are needed, and to be fair the difference isnt correction itll more be product filling..

myself, DaveKG and Gordon (Defined Details,Caledonia on DW) spent a good few hours a while back now testing various cuts with polishes and techniques.

On my old grey golf I found Hard Candy with lime prime to work best. I wouldn't bother wasting your money on Supernatural spend the extra cash on other products such as a decent shampoo, two buckets with grit guards, foam gun etc Or if you still fancy wasting your money I have some Supernatural im trying to sell

My car after Limeprime and Hard candy :happy2:

Have just used Dodo orange crush on my red Ed30 and the resuts werent bad, gave the red some more depth. Good but not amazing I would say. Although the smell most certainy was amazing

On darker coloured cars I always rated this highly for the money, the cleanser was good also:

I used R222/P21S this summer. Lots of positive comments from other peeps at Inters. P21S is great at the wet look without muting the flake but it didn't last very long. Maybe two weeks. R222 is meant to be more durable and last longer. Very easy to apply - it's almost like vaseline.
