Cheers Paul. :happy2:
Anyone I've spoke to with them said they'd never buy a car without them ever again.
Looking forward to them. Probably make them Bi-Xenon while I'm at it.
Yeah not that many in Ireland have them.
-
honestly you never would. i drive a lot of unlit country roads for work and its getting darker now much earlier. My alfa was useless, honestly like two candles but wiith the xenons in the Golf, fantastic! Even xenon effect bulbs dont come close to them IMO
-
Front needs a bit more low, however, I know how bad roads can be over here haha. Aside from that minor thing, care looks very clean and very tastefully done.
Performance mods are also win. Love those wheels
-Neil
-
Brakes and Xenons two highlights for me :happy2: Those brakes will look and feel fantastic
I like the whole track/speed conscious image while keeping the OEM+ look, good work dude.
-
Thanks very much folks.
It's a bit lower now the suspension's settled.
I'll get some proper pics when the brakes and lights are all fitted.
-
Where did you get your Xenon lights from?

Hi,
Are xenons hard to code? Who did it for you if you don't mind me asking. I am from Dublin myself. Love black alloys with tornado red!
-
Not that hard to code Paul, but I'm probably going to make them Bi-Xenon while I'm at it .
Requires some extra wiring which is a bit tricky. George Dalton in Portlaoise will probably get the job.
-

Hey lovely car. just wondering where you got your brakes. In Roscommon myself and want to upgrade mine. Have front and back set off an R32 but not sure about fitting them cos of the weight. do you mind me asking what they cost?
Hoping to go with a cat back milltek and induction kit. Can you recommend anyone to re map it. Sorry for all the questions, just find it hard to get good help over here.
-
Hi,
There is great guy Joe I can recommend for remap. He's based in Dublin and I got stage 1 with him and will be going stage 2+ in 2 weeks time.

Paul

Looking forward to seeing the results with the GT28 :driver:
-
Let us know the progress with the turbo build :santa:
-
Cheers guys.
Looking forward to it. :driver:
I was happy enough with the power but got a good deal on them, and since I had nearly everything else (Intercooler, Pump, Exhaust etc.), I said I'd go for it!!. :jumpmove:
I'll try get some more pictures of the car up later, I realise that the thread is lacking in photo's. :ashamed:
-
What power do you think you'll achieve with the GT28 and S3 injectors.?
-
In around the 350hp mark hopefully Rich.
-
This is class, I'd absolutely love to see/hear more about polished monzas, it's something I'm considering at the moment as opposed to replacing with something aftermarket.
-
Cheers Harry.
They were'nt in bad condition to start with.
Started off with 600 grit sandpaper, then 800, 1000, 1500, 2000.
Then finish with a metal polish.
HTH.
-
Some snaps as promised. Poor quality as usual with me.

Not much has changed, just gathering and waiting on parts.
Also picked up a set of these stupidly cheap:
Kumho V700 Track tyres.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fh414%2FDonalMaher%2FKumho.jpg&hash=4eacf5c1e17d2c8b609f5db364092b6f5d6bb956)
They're a fairly old track tyre but should give good grip and save my road tyres.
-
Yummy
Was just sat reading thinking how nice it was and then you got the turbo for Xmas  love it. Would love to see a vid clip when its done
-
Such a good looking car :happy2:
-
Thanks guys.
Pity I can't take a photo to save my life. :fighting:
Looks better in person.
I'll make sure to get some videos when it's on.
-
Love the steering wheel and brakes. Was the xenons a straight fit then update of computer?
Gary.
-
Thanks Gary.
They are a straight fit apart from the Kufatec adaptors. (Change from 10 pin to 12 pin).
Just need coding with VCDS or similiar then.
Also if you want Xenon high beams the shutters have to be wired up. :happy2:
-
No problem, thanks for that.
Gary.
-
Simply gorgeous
Keep up the good work :happy2:
-

In other news:
My KMD Internals gave up, so have to get a new set. Money I had'nt planned on spending but oh well.

Are they the uprated coilpacks at 300+ dollars?
Some very nice little touches there
-
Cheers Mike.
The coils are the same as standard just red topped. Eighty dollars :happy2:.
I'm a bit unsure on the harness. Might be overkill!!.

Probably trim them in leather at some stage.
-
Nice! Yeah if you could get some more pics of the TTRS brakes fitted thatd be sweet!
Hows the reception on the billet aerial? I know that with most of the guys here in Australia, they usually opt to get the OEM Sharan replica stubby antenna and though the FM channels still work, one or two stations usually drop in reception quality. Does the fact that its billet change this at all?
-
It's the same if not better Stephen.
I brought it on a long spin this morning and I usually lose reception on my local radio station about half way up, but now it nearly lasts the whole journey!!.
I'm not sure if the billet makes any difference.
-
S3 Injectors arrived. Thanks Alex.

Turbo etc. and fuel pump, being fitted Wednesday. Won't have the S3 injectors fitted and mapped for a week or two after.
Hopefully get the Forge stuff, coilpacks, harness etc. fitted too.
The Pole Positions should be in next weekend all going to plan.
Hopefully all the parts I've gathered will be fitted in the next few weeks, so I don't get kicked out. :signLOL:

Thanks a million Freddy.
Seems like a lot of effort, any way I can get away without doing it with a Gt2871r turbo??.
-
I don't think so mate
From my understanding the dv is located on the K03
Unless your new GT has the same housing built into it then you'll need to move it :happy2:
-
Thanks again man.
Sorry if these are stupid questions....
I have a Forge Twintake, do I need the custom Maf housing??.
Has anyone a how to on the extended wiring loom??.
It's a Forge DV I have does this make any difference??.

Depends if your Forge twintake is an early version, so it's either K03 or K04 version.
The wiring loom is just an extension of 2 wires
Forge DV fitted in front of the engine will make it easier to fit the boost tubes to the intake manifold :happy2:

Thanks folks.
Had a good weekend at Gti International.
Dissapointed with my times on the Saturday, best was a 5.6/13.8 iirc.
On the Sunday only got one run, done a 5.4/13.5, just getting the hang of it when it was stopped. (Wish a speedy recovery to those injured).

What BHP does your car make?
-
What BHP does your car make?
Made 307hp Rich.
The dyno my tuner uses limits torque on DSG cars if it senses the rear wheels not moving apparently. So it's supposedly more anyway.
Good few DSG cars over here don't put down what they are supposed too on it.
-
you will be at 330ish Donal, that's what I got on Joe's rollers and apart from DSG our cars are similar
Paul
-
Fitted the paddles earlier on. They feel great, I'm delighted with them. Should have came like this from the factory!!.
Cheers Rich and Mandy. :drinking:

What's next then?
S4 V8/E46 M3/Mk4 .:R32 couple of choices really.
Something with a big silly N/A anyway!!.
-
^ Sounds like you're not taking a step backwards anyway.
E46 M3 would be my choice.
Will the next one be taken as far as this one?
-
Donal,
Make sure you get something quicker to justify increase in road tax with big engine!
The sound of all cars up there would be much better then GTI!

This car should be back in my possession in the next while.
The plan is a trackish setup but still road legal, something along the lines of SteveP's or NeilM's.
It's back completely standard at the moment, and my Dad has it fairly wrecked tbh. But I'll make it awesome again. :driver:
I'm emmigrating for a year shortly so it'll just be a build up of parts for a while.
I have a GT28 setup in the garage, turbo needs a rebuild but it's handier than going K04 all over again, and I want something a little different. I plan to do the rods too so should see around 400hp or so I reckon.
Other plans: Decent suspension (VWR maybe), brakes, diff and maybe a half cage.
Genuinely excited to be starting this over again.
-
Haha, your nuts Donal, in a good way!!
Looking forward to the reincarnation....

Haha this is what I get for bumping a 2 year old post. But seriously, I have a set of those wheels. I was looking to get them drilled from mag seat to conical to run wobble bolts, but I'm wondering if that's what you did or you went another route. Anyone know that reads this?
Wow looks awsome

I know it's an old post but what size spacer did you use with the Helios ? I'm just about to fit TTRS brakes, thanks
