Hi
iv been offered a secondhand rns510 version b at £350 and was wondering when i pick it apart from testing it to make sure it reads cd and nav works is there anything else i should be looking for
thanks
-
Just the general condition I guess. If it works when you fit it then that's about all you can do.
-
From reading around ive read that units that are stolen they do something to the eprom so when u try and update it bricks it. Is there any way to spot t this. And does it work on all version. Also o whats the latest vsrsion for the version b stereo
-
just been speaking to the seller and hes advised it doesnt need a code when you fit it into the car. could this mean its one thats had the eprom soldered
-
It will need a code, it might not have needed a code if fitted, removed and refitted to the same car.
Or is one of you getting confused with coding as in VCDS?
If he's telling you it doesn't have the 4 digit code that might account for the lower price. Some of us have a tool which can write a new pin code to the unit.

I guess I would check to see if the seals had been broken.
-
hes saying that you just fit it and itd work without a code. even offered to fit it.
can i ask howmuch do people who have the tools to change the pin charge for it
thanks

I would get the pin for you for £25 but I'd need to see the unit.
