looking to get some coilovers, have ran them on many other golfs, jsut not a mk5, anyone run coilovers and what experience have you had with them?
after a good firm but daily driver ride comfort, no need for damping adjustment, just height
heard ap are a good budget choice
anyone selling theirs soon?
Cheers,
Mat

I had AP coilovers with the adjustable shocks, they were pretty good, ran quite low, but got subframe problems from the knocking noise due to how low it was, so had to raise it a bit,
Good for the price, and as said, can get quite low.
Far better comfort wise than FK's.

im running FK AK streetlines, quite low, comfortable and cheap :)
-
am running kw v1 on 19" bbs with no trouble at all--check my build thread
-

^ Have been running on KW-V3 coilovers for some time now. Installed and setup by VWR (Volkswagen Racing) primarily for fast road use. Corner weighted and aligned. Feel hard but not harsh and I love it!

cheers redrobin, the v3's are dear tho, might look into the v1's, will yours go lower still or are they on the limit?
-
Click on my build thread for pics,I had my caster and camber and tracking done when I had mine fitted
-
Running FK sport edition plus... running v.low, Height and dampning adjustable and cheap :happy2:

....Yes they will go lower but it's not practical for road use, especially with my front splitter.

Running mine on KW V1's with about a 40mm drop without any rubbing issues but i have got quite a stretch on the tires, am very happy with the ride quality, its not too firm but feels alot tighter than the standard setup, not gonna be tracking the car so went for the V1's as i wouldnt know where to begin setting up compression and rebound on the V3's

Little_Dave - are those wheels machined? 9J rears?
Ive got the same staggered set in 18's and need to run them at -3 neg camber for arch clearence... do ya get alot of poke with them?
-
If going low is your main priority, go for FK Silverline Plus! absoloutely amazing coilovers, fairly inexpensive and the ride really isnt as bad as people say...each to their own i suppose though...I may be selling mine in the very near future...boxed and with c spanners, no more than 1500 miles use.
PM me if your interested :)

cheers for the help guys, cars look great btw
redrobin what lower front splitter are you running, look good :)

For what you want I'd recommend the KW V1 or Weitec Hicon GT's. Both great coilovers. We supply them at fantastic prices if you are interested.

That 60mm over your standard height? IIRC yours is a 1.6 Golf? They are a bit higher to start with. Thinking about taking mine down a touch more but only about another 5mm or so... had 2 mates in the back the other day and couldnt get my finger between the tire and the arch :scared: you got any pics of the rear on that drop??
