After going to do discs & pads last week I had difficulty getting the discs off so ended up just renewing the pads...
Do I need to remove the caliper? If so I had a nightmare trying to get my 14mm spline socket into the bolt. There just wasn't enough room. I think it was the upper one I struggled with. Ive just bought a bendy adapter to see if it will fit as the socket with bar or ratchet was to long.
Have many people removed the discs & left the caliper in situ?

Okay so I tried to get in there with a universal joint socket, still no access :fighting: :fighting:
Any suggestions?

I remember doin this Mike, I ended up knocking the splined portion out of its socket and using it on its own with a spanner to turn it, gave just enough room :smiley:

Cant get the splined section out the socket Ive got now. But I did manage to get a 12mm spanner on some of the spline, wasnt enough leverage, or I am a pussy :grin:
Had a word with DaveB, turns out it is a swine of a thing to do. He recommended what I'd thought might be a bit daunting and unbolting the arm & bottom of the shocker giving more room....
I might have a go at getting the splined bit out and finding a longer spanner...

I've done it several times and not had a huge issue. Have you tried using a short extension on the ratchet?
Carl managed to do his last weekend so it can't be that hard :signLOL:

I can fit the socket in. There isnt enough room then for the ratchet, never mind an extension. :sad1:

Came accross this but doubt 10mm hex is upto the torque need to undo & re tighten???

Are you sure you're undoing the right bolts??
There should be two traditional M14 hex head bolts that hold the carrier in place.

It looks like I am :confused: It's 2 M14 splined bolts holdin the Caliper on. Need the caliper off to remove the disc

You surely had the caliper off when you did pads? So all that is left is the carrier which is two M14 bolts. Don't go trying to split the caliper.

Only had one half of the caliper assembly off to change the pads. That what you mean by split the caliper? Was just following a guide..
