what would you say in your opinion is the best wheel choice for a GTI?
i love the monzas but keep finding myself putting my BBS CH back on...torn between the 2 as they both give 2 totally different looks!

Never been a fan of monza's.
The pescara style does it for me :happy2:
-
What size are your CH's? I prefer the CH's to be honest!
-
They're not real Monzas right?
-
yep real monzas andrew :happy2:
they are 18s Joe, got the coilovers in the boot just waiting till my mechanic comes back his honeymoon to put them on, hopefully get the wheels filling the arches because they look tiny!
-
They dont look that small! I managed to get x5 18 inch BBS CHs in very good nick for £300 today  Just wanted to make sure I made the right size choice!
-
Monzas are far nicer in my opinion.
-
They're not real Monzas right?
That's what I thought. Either way Monza IIs look best, Nice and OEM. Unless it's an Edition 30 then it's the Pescaras in their original colour.
-
CH's for me :happy2:

I must admit I thought the same, something about the colouring and proportions didnt look right, personally I think Monza II as OEM especially when in top condition the lustre and contrast between the anthracite inserts and diamond cut face is immense.

i cant personally say that they are genuine Monzas, i got them from a member on this site and was told they were genuine so i took his word, i think the photo does make them look a bit wierd but they certainly look genuine when they were on the car and had the BBS stamps on them aswel.
still undecided wethere to paint the CH's gloss black or leave them as silver :stupid:
-
Personally I really like the monza II on the normal GTI.
And equally like the peskys on the Ed30.
-
They definitely are original Monza IIs.
The BBS seem to be BBS VZ033, not Pescaras.
I have a set as well. But I prefer the Monza style.
:happy2:

Something odd about those wheels ??
Are the black nut caps missing? cus those do look like replica's or have they been re-skimmed, making the smooth surface larger?
Something about the look of the stud pattern..
Monza or Huffs fan over the Ch's..
-
Polished Monzas for a GTI (other than an Ed30). The replica 19" Monzas look especially good. :happy2:
-
Both look great to be fair. I think I prefer a GTI to have 18" Monza's and down low on coilovers with spacers to bring the wheels out a touch. Perfect stance/look.
-
18" Monza Shadows from a Mk6 with the Black inserts. If i ever find a set of Monza 2s to refurb I'm having them done that style. In fact I was thinking today if I was fortunate enough to be able to order a Golf R I would order 4 brand new Monza Shadows at the same time and run the car on those instead of the standard R wheels , which do nowt for me at all.

Wish I had original 18" Monzas. The 19" Monzas are bloody heavy !! :rolleye:
(25 kg incl. tyre)
-
.
For looks, I reckon the Monza 18's are by far the best - Very distinctive and unique to the GTI. BUT, they are prone to the wretched white worm and are also heavy. The Ed30 in the UK should have had black Monza's imo.

For function, I reckon OZ Alleggerita's as they are very lightweight and also look great even when dirty (titanium colour).
-
Yes,
- OZ Ultraleggera (and the former Superleggera)
- OZ Allegerita (ultralight !!)
- BBS CH (not as light as OZ, but solid and still timeless looks)
- BBS CH-R
But for looks I still prefer the unique Monza II / Detroit / Hufs !!
:driver:

Monza's look far too plain for the GTi IMO. Age old recipe of CH's or Pescara's is the way ahead.
