I'm buying a 3" blueflame DP this month off TrickGti. Before it goes on I want to do one of the 'every little helps mods of heat wrapping it.
Can anyone advise on which wrap I need / is best & where to purchase?
Also will I have any Issues Mating the DP with my Miltek system? My Miltek DP bracket is bust so will be Miltek Cat back.
Thank you! :happy2:

Ceramic coat it. Lasts forever unlike heat wrap which will crumble and fall off after 6 months. I will be coating mine when I finally get around to fitting the hybrid.

Anyone know of ceramic coaters in Yorkshire? Should be able to find somewhere at home in Sheffield with all the steelworks & workshops. All the websites are too technical for me

We use a place just round the corner. Also try zircotec.

Milk & Beans isnt too far to travel either, who are the guys you normally use? Good enough for BDM good enough for my Cupra :happy2:

They don't coat direct to the public, but you can go through us. Just need the pipe for a few days.

Why you changing DP mike? Yours is all flanged with swappable cat/decat sections!!!

Bracket has failed and has been welded once already :sad1:

Would be a good time to get the ITG pipe work ceramic coated too :) Have one of the early kits, plain silver :sad1:

The Blueflame Dp will not fit to the MILLTEK as it was designed to fit as a full 3.00 system and not as an up grade to a cat back.
Be prepared for quite a hefty bill for the ceramic coating and remember the flex will need masking off - although the coaters will normally do this for you.
The efficiency of the thermal wrap is around 20% greater than the ceramic coating and therefore exhaust gas temperatures are greater and hence they flow faster - great news for the TFsSi 's.
It's also important to note that a hotter cat is more efficient than a non coated or wrapped one, again good news especially if a cheaper cat has been manufactured into the DP.
Lastly there is a slight reduction in life expectancy of the part having been wrapped or coated than non wrapped (ironic as that sounds) although were are talking a drop from 20 years to 18 years - not something that will worry most of us.
Sorry last but not least the biggest gain will come from the fact that the bore is 76mm on the BF DP not 70mm which is further reduced to 60mm where it meets the flex joint.
If you need help with the connector pipe between the BF DP and the MILLTEK let me know and I'll sort it for you.

Don't forget that a wrapped exhaust will also hold water and moisture which can lead to earlier rusting.

True to some extent but insignificant if the car is run regularly - but again on a stainless part - not a major issue.
