Hi All,
Just a quick enquiry, are the ED30 brake pads the same as the GTi brake pads. I have the clunking noise coming from the front of the car when I apply the brakes and someone has asked if the wrong brake pads could be installed. The garage I bought the car from did change Discs and Pads before I picked up the car but after I test drove it, so could this be the problem?
Cheers all,
Ian

Yes... they are the same. The entire braking system is the same on the GTI 200PS or 230PS

Doubt it will be that then, back to the drawing board on the noise then.

Does the clunk happen every time you brake?

Not every time. Car needs to have done a few miles before it starts, then pretty much every time you brake, including just pressing gently on the pedal and getting no braking action to feel. Brake pads could have been a good un, but not if they are the same. Still thinking about the r32 setup too.
I thought it was coming from in the car, around the brake pedal area, but was driving last night with windows down and was definately from outside. Google search shows an old thread on here mentioning sub frame bolts and a kit you can get, 2 new bolts and 2 shims, so might have to try that.
