Title: Whats your idle speed?
Post by: Rob GTI on July 16, 2011, 04:10:43 pm: After fitting my BSH Catch can I initially had an erratic idle due to a leak which was promptly sorted. Since then I've noticed the car idles at 720 - 760 rpm according to VCDS or 800rpm on the needle of the dial. Its not lumpy or causing vibrations, its just I can't remember what it idled at before and don;t want to go back to OEM PCV to see if thats anything to do with it :laugh:

Post by: Rob GTI on July 16, 2011, 04:33:19 pm: Will do its only been on a week and done less than 100miles. Going for a big run in it next week - say 500 miles(going S2+ as well) so will report back then, oil is to the max line at the min so will be interesting to see if it uses any.

Have you had any issues with consumption, I guess it may use more as more crap gets stuck in the can??

Have noticed higher consumption and will be happy if I can nail it to the catch can as that's obvious and understandable.

I test drove a GTI about a month ago which idled at 900rpm without a murmur or shake whatsoever. I want mine to be like that but having raised it with the stealers a technician supposedly advised that it's fine at 800rpm and the slight shake is nothing - i only say supposed because i haven't heard the words out of the technician's mouth but via a sales rep. May be this is so but I'm generally untrusting of sales people - no offence to any sales people :laugh:
