So chaps,
Car went in yesterday for a couple of bits, one of the pieces I was intending to get fitted is a WALK set up.
The issue we discovered is with the existing 'walk shaped part', not sure what you'd call it (or the part number), one the three bolts that attaches it to the car/subframe has sheared.
The main body of the bolt is still inside the hole, so to some degree it still has some lateral strength to it but getting it out will be a right bugger.
The issue is somewhat complicated by the bolt next to it appearing to be cross threaded, so all up we have issues to get the bolts out. Given these are high tensile bolts drilling them out probably won't be possible, so now wondering about options to remove.
Anyone had this issue before when putting on a WALK kit?
I'm thinking/pondering I may need to pick up a new subframe (ebay flavoured) and with some new bolts plus the Walk that should perhaps fix the issue then I could turn may attention to getting subframe and 'walk shaped part' apart, but that's just my guess..so far.
Anyone got any thoughts or part name/numbers?

I had this issue I just hammered an 8mm closed spanner over the top of it and turned it out, its been overtightened and stressed till it twists in the middle then when you have tried to take it out its snapped, I did the same thing :happy2:

I would try and pick up another subframe if i were you. The WALK is a bit a pig to fit, the mechanic who did mine had a bit of a job doing it.

Only thing is though Rich he has the threaded part stuck in the chassis so will need to get that out before anything else.

Thanks for the info so far guys, does anyone know the actual part name/number that WALK replaces and the parts that it attaches to.
Given two out of the three bolts that are in play fixing this part are compromised. One missing it's bolt head and the other bolt bent through the hole and looks mis-threaded.
I'm thinking worse case that the whole lot either side of the WALK part may have to be removed so then they can be eased apart. If the spanner option won't do the trick.

The console bush(the WALK) is bolted straight to the chassis and to replace a chassis rail will cost a lot of money. Best bet is find a good garage who knows what they are doing and ask them to sort it out for you.

Dont know if i can help , did Greeners not have the chassie part for sale with the walk insert fitted ,

That was a sub frame with VWR mount.

I have a subframe for sale with engine mount and an ECS insert inserted!
The insert alone is over £30 I want just £50+£10 P&P.
Probably won't help but I can't remember how the console bushes bolt on now.

They can be drilled out and you need a cobalt drill piece to do it. Should be no problems with a nice sds drill (hammer off) and plenty of water or drilling compound.

Ive got a sh*te load of cut oil if you need some, its fantastic stuff that we use at work :happy2: Worth cutting oil in spray cans. put it this way it takes me 30 seconds to get through 70mm of steel with a 30mm hss drill bit :grin: then again I can do the same without cutting oil and a 36mm carbide tipped bit :evilgrin:

Cheers for the info guys.
Think the drill out seems favourite in my view. See if that works before buying a subframe for a fix.
Just wondered about the bolts now, given I'm buying some for the knacked ones do people tend to renew all these when putting a Walk on??
