Title: Model year?

Does anybody know when a cars model year runs from/to (it's different to a calendar year).

I'm fairly sure that in the case of VW, and therefore probably VAG, it runs from July to July.

My GTI started being built on July 11th 2005 but is defined as an 06-Build.

It's also the time of year that VW usually have introduced updates/upgrades to the factory builds AFAIK.

Yep, that's pretty much spot on RR, traditionally the factories shut around July/August time for the summer hols over a couple of weeks. Whilst the workers are away any new tooling and stuff gets fitted at the factory and when they return to work the next model year gets going. A bit like school years really.
