Title: Log-in problems....
Post by: RedRobin on July 19, 2011, 08:16:03 pm
.
On Mac OS X 10.6.8, in spite of ticking the 'Stay Logged-in' box and no matter which page header used to log-in, I have to enter my User Name and Password every time I return to this forum.

Any suggestions please?

I have this problem on other forums and it's usually as above - logging in from more than one computer.

Shouldn't be a problem... I use 2 macs and never have to re-log in

It's happened only on two forums, and not this one.

On the same connection / IP or different locations?

Similar thing happens to me whether on work computers, my laptops, my desktop or the xoom, although it remembers the name, but the incorrect password.  No other forum has this response so its not my computers,

Thanks for the info, guys. All 3 Macs at home are on the same wireless network and also the same internet server but the problem has started since the new iMac joined the party  :sad1: - Mighty tedious. This site is the only one I experience such issues with.

....Yes (Thanks  :drinking:) - I had already tried that alternative and have just done so again, furthermore quitting Safari between sessions. Cookies are enabled for sites I load/visit - So it's not that factor.

I think I may have discovered what the problem is:

I imported my browser bookmarks from the other Mac and the saved address was < http://95.172.13.58/forum/ > and hence loaded that particular forum index page which says I'm not logged in. I think that Admin has since changed things from when that address was in common service (I'm guessing here). So it's that particular address which gives the problem.

After loading that page and without log in, if I then load another page on this site it shows me as logged in!

I will now change the bookmark and see what happens........

...........Problem now solved (so far).

Bookmark address now changed to < http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php > if it helps anyone.

Just to report that this morning auto log-in is now fully functional on my Mac OS X 10.6.8 system via Safari browser.

In my case I think it correct to deduce that the issue was directly related to the specific GTI forum page address used as a bookmark. So anyone with a similar problem may solve it by updating their bookmark.

Hope this helps  :happy2:
