I tried a MTB today with 29" wheels, and word on the street i,s this is the way forward with all manufacturers following suit.
I got on well with it, rides well up and down hill, but was a hardtail and I'm looking at a full suspension. The bike I'll be looking at is the Trek Superfly 100. Apparently in the US over 60% of MTBs sold are now 29ers, and we in the UK will be going the same way.
Anyone else ridden one and got a view on it?
Much appreciated.

Im a shortarse, so pretty soon i won't be able to buy a bike that fits.

But isn't the top UK female rider on a 29 and she's 5th nothing??

29 inch wheels are supposed to roll smoother over bumps, as they have a larger circumference. The disadvantage is inertia & more effort is required to get them rolling, and fewer tyres for them, although more are coming onstream regularly. Many XC racers use 29ers at specific times, when courses suit them. It's still a contentious issue, and one which can polarise a MTB conversation.
I'd say, like any bike, try it & see if you like it. Personally i have no issues with my XC racer on 26" wheels.
29ers require longer chainstays & forks, but dont need a larger frame height, so shortarses too can ride them

My order went in today for a 2012 Trek Superfly 100 Elite 29er. It's due to turn up mid October. I'm very excited. My 2011 Trek EX 6 went today to my cousin, so I'll be on my Kona Cinder Cone for the next two months. All the reports on the Superfly are coming back as excellent.

Read those, I don't think you'll be disappointed :happy2:

Looks bonkers with the 29s, like a bike equivalant of a Micro Machine toy car with the big wheels! Looks sweet though. Very nice.
