Ok, my first day back at work for 7 months today lol
Up nice & early, all sorted for first day back & go out to the car to drive upto work.
Start the car as normal, all seems fine. Then as I start to drive off I get:
"Stop Engine, Oil Pressure Warning Light" comes on for a couple of mins then goes off again?
When I got to work, I checked the dipstick & oil level seems fine. So drove again for a bit & no more warning lights etc
So slightly confused as to what it could have been or still is?
I have noticed, although probably being paranoid now, that after I turn the car off, there is light smoke coming from my tailpipes (is that normal?) as I've never noticed it before.

MIght be different, but i had this issue on my MK1 Audi TT 225.
Turned out, it was an air leak into an oil breather pipe after i didnt block it after ftting an aftermarket induction kit.
You running and after market filter?

My last GTI did same, oil light came on checked level & all was fine.Re-started & no light & it never did it again.

The oil pressure sensor is located around the front of the engine by the oil pump, above the oil filter might be worth looking if you have any oil leaking from around this area as it could have caused pressure to drop until it was re-built up by the engine after starting.

Parked on a hill incline etc ?

Well car has been fine all day since that weird incident.
Very strange :stupid:
Booked the car in at VW next month for a major service inc cambelt / water pump & also fitting cruise control :happy2:
So should be all good after all the feckin miles I have done in the last few months

Well it happened again this morning just after start up,
Red light flashed on saying stop engine oil pressure fault, then after a min or so went out again & car drives fine.
Any ideas???
-
Well same as yesterday lol did it once after start up this morning, stayed on for a min or 2 then vanished again,
had nothing else again all day and done a few trips in it lol
weird.com :stupid:

Best case scenario could be a sticky pressure switch or worst case a failing oil pump which is not getting pressure up quick enough. Needs to be check ASAP.

its booked into VW on the 8th August :happy2:
