Just found a replacement Dsg stick for my GTI.
After lifting the gaitor I can not see how to remove it (withount breaking it)
Any one out there know how??
Cheers

Yep, it's easy. As I recall you need to put the stick into neutral and turn the car off.
First gently unclip the entire base and lift it up. On the shaft of the lever there's like a clip thingy. Undo that and then give it a good hard yank. Don't press the button on the knob! (this just gets dirtier and dirtier). It'll slide right off. Push the new one hard down, wait for hte button to "click" (don't push it yourself!), redo the lock and push it all down.

Cheers bud, will give it a go.
After a quick look I can see the 2 "Barbs" that hold it on .
The one I have bought has them broken off but I should be able to make one good one from two. :happy2:

....Doesn't that beg the question that what you have bought may have been forcibly removed and stolen?

Possibly...
Or just a heavy handed kid who gets paid minimum wage.
I saw the car it came off.A crash damadged R32 in a breakers at newcastle.

....Then there's the answer 8) - Not stolen but broken.

^^ Thanks for the info. My DSG gearstick rattles like crazy. I've found that the part shown above - the metal bit with the DSG letter's on it is loose and hits the metal collar.
Now I know what to ask for when I go into dealership for warrnty claim.
