Title: Main dealer service.
Post by: micaerin on July 25, 2011, 06:51:10 pm
Had my car serviced today with my local main dealer, they carried out a major service and brake fluid change. When I picked the car up the usuall chat about things that need attention started, passenger side CV boot is just starting to split, fair enough i thought, but I could not believe it when he said drivers side rear tyre has no dust cap... and he never replaced it! Also when I checked service book he had not replaced The spark plugs.. To be fair when I mentioned it he took my keys back off me and got them replaced..
Oh by the way I paid £16 extra to have long life oil.
That's my second service with this main dealer, think I'll be trying a different one next time.

How old is the car? As far as I'm aware they won't change the spark plugs on a GTI until it is 6 years old.

I have the £349 service plan with VW, it had a service recently and they changed oil (long life),oil filter, pollen filter, brake fluid and 4 new sparks plugs! I was a bit disappointed they didn't change the air filter but its a fairly cheap and easy one to do myself (which I have now done).
My ed30 is 4 year old and just turned 60k miles. They prob did the plugs due to mileage i suppose.

2007, VW SAY every 4 years or 60000 miles, I was on the service plan and my second year major service, which does include plugs and all filters except fuel filter, also my plan included a brake fluid service, which is not included if you take out the service plan now.

Depends on what mileage & whether major or minor service. The a/c service sounds about right.

Thanks, it is a full service (so Major I think), last service a year ago was a minor one.

In that case, yes, it all sounds about right. Don't forget to tell them to use long life oil even if you're on Time & Distance :happy2:
